I wonder if Queen Camilla felt she had no choice in sharing a carriage with Prince Faisal - given the documented human rights abuses against women and girls in Saudi Arabia.

This is the woman who lunches with Piers Morgan. She has an incredibly low bar when it comes to acquaintances….

hyggetyggedotorg · 18/06/2025 21:08

I really doubt she cares.

I’m sure she did actually

She’s very active in domestic violence charities I believe.

Tbf I know a few Saudi women (don’t wear hijab etc) who feel quite warmly towards him. The loosening up of restrictions have been very positive for women from already liberal families, not so much for women from conservative families. Also what the law says and what actually happens is two very different things. There are still loads of problems in a country where the culture is extreme control over women and girls.

Those “care homes” are fucking vile, I hope international attention on them gets them shut down.

Theres been a significant rise in female participation in the workforce, this is where women will be able to start disentangling and empowering themselves, financial freedom.

It’s still bad by western standards but by where Saudi was 20 years ago there have been big improvements.

Let’s be honest. By western standards the majority of the Middle East is guilty of appalling women’s rights.
I hope Camilla did her upmost to champion women.

Wasn’t Camilla pictured with Jeremy Clarkson right before he wrote about wanting Meghan stripped naked and dung thrown at her. She’s not too picky I reckon.

I too was surprised when I saw who they were sharing a carriage with.
They certainly were making a statement.
