Princess Catherine visited the new V&A East Storehouse

The V&A East Storehouse is a storage facility that was converted to exhibition and research space in London. Instead of the usual “Please don’t touch” hermitically sealed museum experience, the V&A East Storehouse allows visitors to come close to and touch historic and culturally significant pieces.

In this world of smartphones, I like the fact that visitors are encouraged to interact in a tactile way with our past. It is great that Princess Catherine is raising the visibility of this museum.

That’s nice.

I saw that place advertised on Instagram, it looks amazing.

I can't wait to visit. Have booked a week in London in September so we can go a few times

That's another £1m in Royal Grants accounted for now. Whoopie.

She looks amazing doesn't she after all she's been through. I just can't understand her love of stiletto heels though. I'd need a ladder to get in and out of them!

There is so much " stuff" just closeted away in museums all over the country. I worked in one in the clothing section and we had so much which never saw the light of day. Museums try to image and collate their inventory for online access but this is a great venture to actually look at things close up. I once held one of Queen Victoria's many vests she had. They were all numbered by embroidery. 😊

I've been reading about the V&A Storehouse, it sounds wonderful, great idea.

From what I gather a lot of the RF have been out and about this week and Trooping on Saturday of course.

Oooh this looks interesting. I love the sound of the ‘order an object’ experience, will definitely have to give it a go.

Its good to see Catherine looking so well and doing an event that she is so passionate about.

Her hair looks a little bit lighter than usual, suits her IMO.

When I was about first year senior school, we had a visit from the local city museum with a trunk full of artefacts. I held a little alabaster pot that had the remnants of an Eyptian womans kohl eyeliner in it, can't remember how many 1000 years old it was. Hooked for life, wanted to be an archaeologist (didn't make it but got an associated degree)

This is such a great iniative. The V&A has so much interesting stuff, a tiny fraction of which is on display at any one time.

Catherine looks good. I like the trouser suits. I know QEII wasn't keen on them but they really suit her.

My2cents1975 · 10/06/2025 22:35

The pant suit was a good call because of the glass floor!

Although it looks lovely in pictures, I would have vertigo just looking down through that floor.

I really like her trouser suit except the trousers are too short. I hate trousers that end above the ankle.
