What’s going on with them? Are they living together as just friends or are they actually a couple?

OP posts:
Justcallmebebes · 18/06/2024 20:47

They're a pair of freeloading grifters. Beyond that, no clue

DelectableMe · 18/06/2024 20:48

That's all. Close the thread now.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 18/06/2024 20:51

First comment as usual nailed it.

Ohpleeeease · 18/06/2024 20:57

Define couple.

Vespanest · 18/06/2024 21:01

Can’t say I really give a shit, the thought causes my skin to crawl

WinnieTheW0rm · 18/06/2024 21:59

No idea

No sign of either being in another relationship. DC grown up.

I suspect they're just really good friends. After all, why on earth would she want to be publicly linked romantically to such an awful sleaze?

It's very convenient for her to be able to live in Royal Lodge, and it must have been good to have a stable base as she goes through her cancer treatments.

She had a horrible time (press were vile) and made some spectacularly bad choices, but kept going. I'm glad the wider family seem to be on better terms with her

Fivegodowntothesea · 18/06/2024 22:08

I’m sorry she’s been unwell but I’m not sure why we should be paying for her to live in luxury, she’s just the ex-wife of a non-working royal. The 4 of them are a waste of space - her, the pervy Prince and their lazy celeb-chasing daughters.

We're not exactly paying for her.

Andrew has the lease (which he may or may not be able to afford) and he can therefore have whoever he wants living with him. It doesn't cost us any extra that she's there

Hoglet70 · 18/06/2024 22:56

Why bash Fergie? She isn't hurting anyone or costing us anything. Gods sake, Mumsnet is horrible.

GrimDamnFanjo · 18/06/2024 23:17

Personally I'm not sure they ever really broke up.

Passiflora2 · 18/06/2024 23:19

What annoys me is the way she’s being wheeled out now at public events. I really don’t understand why. She’s the ex wife of a Royal. It’s ludicrous.

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 18/06/2024 23:23

I suspect they were forced to divorce because her affairs became public knowledge so she was bringing shame on the royal family. I daresay he had plenty too but they would have been kept very quiet. I imagine they've been together as a couple most of the time since.
She has openly stated that she thinks he's a wonderful honourable man, even after the Emily Maitlis interview, which seems astonishing and shows she must have absolutely appalling judgement.
However she has always been unfailingly loyal to the institution of the monarchy and to the royal family and has never once said anything negative about any of them, even when Prince Philip was refusing to allow her to any family occasions. After all she is herself very aristocratic and has royal ancestry. Apparently she remained close to the Queen and they took the corgis after she died.
I should think that being somewhat allowed back into the fold is something to do with her continued loyalty, but also that it must be much better for the royal family to have Andrew in a steady relationship with her rather than him being single and free to behave however he wants with a series of women which is probably what he'd do left to his own devices, which would be even more of a PR nightmare for them.

She's the mother of two blood princesses, that'll have a lot to do with it.

ACynicalDad · 18/06/2024 23:26

Friends with benefits in think, but not sure shaging either of them could be considered a benefit.

Well, Mark Philips doesn’t hang out with the RF, neither did Anthony Armstrong Jones or indeed Diana. Mark Philips ex Autumn doesn’t turn up at public events. Once the divorce is over they ought to get on with their lives independently and stop parading around playing at being the spouse when they aren’t one.

Supersimkin7 · 18/06/2024 23:37

She’s the best protection for Andrew he could get. RF should be bloody grateful to her.

Anyone who puts up with PA deserves a medal from King Charles, tbh. PA is widely winced at in his own circles. The idea she was the only unfaithful one may not be entirely correct.

More to the point, Fergie was left homeless by the royals after the divorce with pence for maintenance.

The house she inhabited belongs to the children. RF used her for free childcare till they were 18 then she was booted.

Fergie had to work, no questions asked, and the public sniggers arising from
her career choices were one reason why Diana got decent alimony.

RF realised dumping a mother to raise & finance her children alone could backfire.

Fergie’s parents ran up debts and left her nowt, Afaik. Girls don’t get left much anyway.

She’s entitled to a decent roof over her head more than most full royals.

WannabeHealthier · 18/06/2024 23:44

No idea if they’re together or how she and Andrew are financed… although suspect he was left a good inheritance by the Queen. I don’t think the public are supporting them.

I did speak to someone recently who worked for Charles a few years ago (quite high up) ..,. I asked who were the hardest working royals.

Surprisingly they said Sarah Ferguson - apparently she is very hands on with the cancer charities she supports- raises a lot of money and takes a lot of care responding to everyone who contacts her. Must admit I was surprised as I hadn’t even considered her to be a working Royal.

justasking111 · 19/06/2024 00:12

Sarah's parents weren't great I feel that had an awful affect on her as a young girl. She's like a puppy, eager to please everyone. She's had a very sad life when I think about it.

"Once the divorce is over they ought to get on with their lives independently...."

Once anyone's divorce is over they OUGHT not anything. These two had little girls to bring up and as far as I know they had a cordial relationship about doing that, which is more than many parents manage for their hurt little people. Good on them for that.

Yes, as has been said earlier, Sarah didn't have the most secure of childhoods. Nor did Diana. I am comparing that in my mind with Sophie's and Kate's starts in life.

Passiflora2 · 19/06/2024 08:23

Their children ceased being little girls long ago. Why is she popping up everywhere now?

ajandjjmum · 19/06/2024 08:47

Because Philip has died and he was the one who was determined to keep her at arms length. But she and Andrew are only included in 'family' things, not official engagements. For all of the negativity surrounding them, I have to admire how they have pulled together to bring up two seemingly well balanced young women.

With regard to the other exes - doesn't Mark Philips have a house on Princess Anne's estate, or at least did when the DC were younger. Anthony Armstrong Jones remained a favourite of the Queen Mother. Autumn and Peter were at an event recently, together with their new partners. Camilla and Andrew PB are still friends. Who knows how Charles and Diana's relationship would have evolved had she not died, but I do think that they were beginning to become more understanding with each other. I think it's a good thing that couples can have these relationships after their divorces - although obviously none of us can know what really goes on behind closed doors.

The two cancer diagnoses?

She's always been very present in the family - just not at the set piece big events. She now turns up at some of them.

If the family like her, of course they'd rally round.

Three people with 4 cancer diagnoses between them. A worrying time, even when there are (apparently) good grounds for optimism.

Yes. This ^^

Beyond me how Fergie flies under the radar.

Always worth remembering Epstein had more numbers listed for her in his little black book than he had even for Andrew and negotiated debts down on her behalf then paid them off. In addition she and the two grifting daughters were the recipients of funds from an alleged fraudster alongside the most honourable man she knows.

I think it's highly likely the Fergie files are kept in the same vault as her ex-husband's and not due to be released for a similar number of years.

It's probably next door to Harold's vault...

That paedophile should be behind bars!

I get a bit fed up of that term being bandied around for Andrew. Even though I think he's sleazy and repulsive, there has never been any allegation that he goes in for pre-pubescent children
