Goodness me. Just heard this on the radio. I'm early stages of preventative treatment for cancer. Poor woman and her family.

Maybe now all the nutters will STFU

ThirstyMeeples · 22/03/2024 18:04

I'm not sure exactly what they mean by preventative treatment? Must be a shock for them. Hope she's OK.

You'd hope so but I suspect they will go into overdrive.

I hope she has a speedy recovery.

The poor woman those sharing disgusting conspiracies and hounding her into doing this should be ashamed of themselves.

DillDanding · 22/03/2024 18:06

That’s so sad. Poor Kate.

Now all the idiots on here with their idiotic ghoulish theories need to fuck off. I hope you are all proud.

Probably that they have removed the tumour but also found cancer cells in surrounding lymph nodes therefore chemo to prevent future recurrence.

Early stage cancer means it can be cured.

Late stage cancer means it can't.

Nobody gets chemo unless the risks of return are significant, because chemo itself carries fairly serious risks - including later cancers caused by it.

I hope she doesn't feel too terrible. Chemo fatigue is like nothing else in this world.

Probably that they have removed the tumour but also found cancer cells in surrounding lymph nodes therefore chemo to prevent future recurrence.

Or that the tumour was large for type and site, but not in the nodes.

Tumour size and lymph node involvement are closely correlated - you can get a huge tumour with no node involvement, or just "in situ" cells with node involvement, but they're rare.

Preventative means that, for whatever reason, risk of recurrence was deemed quite high, but that it's early stage in the clinical sense - no indication it had spread. And given who she is, she's had PET CT, so they have a damn good idea.

My daughter was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer aged 34 with 2 small children. The tumour was removed and there was no spread to lymph glands or other spread but due to the aggressive type of cancer and her age chemotherapy and radiotherapy were advised to prevent recurrence. She is 5 years post treatment with no recurrence so far but the possibility is always somewhere in the back of your mind and life is never the same.

Hope your daughter remains cancer free for many many more years to come🌹
