Something very odd going on

chillberri · 11/03/2024 06:09

ITS A FAKE

PrinceLouisWeirdFinger · 11/03/2024 06:35

It looks like an AI photo, or it’s been heavily photoshopped. The whole placing of the hands and the shape of fingers is very odd.

Sundaygettingreadyfortheweek · 11/03/2024 06:37

Really? I suspect Charlotte is just very flexible or possibly hypermobile.

lizzowhiz · 11/03/2024 06:40

Same thing was said about the fingers in previous photos.
All very weird

chillberri · 11/03/2024 06:42

Kates hand round Louis is blurry

miraveille · 11/03/2024 06:42

Been officially withdrawn by AP, Reuters etc for unacceptable manipulation. This is crazy!

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/03/2024 07:49

Given the amount of Photoshop that goes on with almost every single image we see of celebrities i don't see why a supposedly mismatched sleeve is such a big deal.

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/03/2024 07:57

BBC article,

BBC News - Princess of Wales: Kate image withdrawn by four news agencies amid 'manipulation' concerns
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-68526972

Lampslights · 11/03/2024 08:00

I’m am also slightly bemused that it’s been withdrawn by so many major agencies, most photos are edited these days. You seldom see an untouched one. Unless it’s the mails side bar of shame. It’s standard practice to edit/filter it, and William is not known for his photography skills.

im not sure the photo is honest though, the grainy image of Kate in the car showed puffy features, and if this was taken by William a week ago it was in roughly the same time period. In the car she looked puffy and you could see she’d been ill, even though it was long distance, and in this She looks full of health, sitting in skinny jeans after major stomach surgery, clearly having had her hair done.

i think it’s fine she’s not wearing a wedding ring, clearly charlottes sleeve shows a bit missing, i am not sure of the issue with Kate’s zip or Charlotte’s pocket on her skirt, but clearly the agencies think there is a very, very significant issue and are refusing to use it. So they think it’s to all extents faked. And they will habe serious photography staff reviewing it. Habe they photoshopped in images of them from other photos?

I think this is an unprecedented step for the major agencies to take with the royals. I suspect the palace will say nothing and just keep it up .

GoldThumb · 11/03/2024 08:01

I wonder what’s going on?

Surely photos are ‘manipulated’ all the time, why would they pull a photo because of a bad edit of a sleeve?

Very curious…

Yeah it’s weird, my guess would be Kate’s head has been superimposed on there. But I don’t know. Clearly some who knows what they are talking about as a photographer would need to look at the image and comment, but for the agencies to take this step is Really major , which basically amounts to they think it’s faked to an extent they won’t use it.

They don’t withdraw images for a bit of photo shop . If they did, we’d have very few images. Clearing skin tone, tidying up, enhancing is all normal. So they think something is so faked about this image they have refused to use it.

chillberri · 11/03/2024 08:11

They know the truth

Lampslights · 11/03/2024 08:20

CNN is saying the agencies use specialist software to check for manipulation, and that a small amount of manipulation is permitted, ie colour enhancement, softening etc.

the agencies run their images through this software and they won’t use images that they deem over manipulated as it impacts their reputation. Ie if they deem it manipulated to an extent it is no longer an honest representation it won’t be used as they want people to trust what they issue.

so whatever software they have used to show the manipulation has shown it to a level they have all issued “kill notices” , which means retract.

its really very significant. Clearly none of them will say what they can see and play it down, as it could result in legal action, and they don’t want to make accusations, they have simply sent out mandatory kill notices after running it through their software.

MrsLeonFarrell · 11/03/2024 08:24

If you read the article I posted they explain very clearly that the sleeve manipulation would be enough to kill the photo.

This is a news photo rather than a fashion one and the standards are really high, they are allowed to remove dust from a lens but that's about it.

Somehow I find it comforting that news images have such high standards. I didn't realise this before.

ItsJustaNewname · 11/03/2024 08:28

Louis hand doesn't seem quite right does it?

Lampslights · 11/03/2024 08:28

A quick google says you can get software that detects image manipulation in where the photo differs and can possibly even undo it, it will show the level of manipulation, where and the software used.

id assume that when people questioned it the agencies have run the image through their software and the results have been such they have issued a kill notice immediately

LadyBird1973 · 11/03/2024 09:56

I really disagree with photoshopping in general. I think a photo is an historical record and should stand as such. Photoshopping people into pictures when they weren't really there (not saying this is the case in the kate pic) or making them look slimmer, prettier etc is fundamentally dishonest.

This is a big fail for the RF - you'd think someone in their team would have thought this through, given how the press pick over everything!

The absolute most that should happen in a photo is removing dust from a lens or adjusting the brightness.

pilates · 12/03/2024 06:47

It’s no big deal really - mountain and molehill spring to mind.

Lampslights · 12/03/2024 07:15

Looking at that photo in the car yesterday I think Kate is deliberately turning away so her face can’t be photographed.

and reading all the photography experts views, the pic was taken on Friday, they even know the camera and lens, as well as the time, due to the forensic software , and they can see it was edited in photoshop with some other sophisticated tools used and the heaviest editing, ie where the pixels have been changed, is Kate’s face and the kids hands. There is actually 26 places it was changed, not 16, and the mega data shows it was done Friday night and sat morning,

it does appear it’s a composite image, so she could have taken from other images taken at the same time, or older images. Unless she’s an expert then it’s likely she did the first edit and someone else who knew what they were doing did the second, or vice Versa, as there are both expert and sloppy edits.

thats why the agencies all killed it. It’s a major edit and calls into question its voracity.

the question for me is why. Kate has never been shy of a camera. She is doing everything possible to avoid being photographed. When this could easily be put to bed and stopped, a short 20 second video, saying thanks for the well wishes would do it. Even turning her face yesterday, Instead she’s hiding her face and issuing altered photos. They are letting this continue when it could be stopped simply.

the behaviour is now bordering on bizzare. I’m no conspiracy theorist and even I’m now thinking the palace is covering something up and something is wrong here. It makes absolutely no sense for someone as comfortable in front of the camera as Kate, to hide in this manner when all the speculation could easily be stopped. In a flash. If it was abdominal surgery, no matter how ill she was, a load of make up and hair done and turning her face to the camera and she would look fine and this would stop.

so why is she letting this continue. It really is bizzare.

WhatAreThey · 13/03/2024 11:13

She's supposedly a "skilled" photographer.
Having studied it at university and becoming patron of the RPS.

Being a skilled photographer doesn't necessarily mean being an expert at photoshop. Particularly when software exists that can pick it all apart anyway.
