Drama, so much drama

I find it strange that in a city like New York, where A list celebrities and famous dignitaries and politicians have been able to go about their business without drama, the Sussexes have yet again found themselves caught in a media frenzy, where chases and near collisions were involved. How is it possible that other more high profile celebrities can avoid this issue yet the Sussexes can't? It's like everywhere they go, drama always ensues. The Royal Family were bullying/jealous of them, nearly caused Meghan to kill herself, were racist towards their son, that they were being harrassed by the media in the UK, Canada and now the US. At what point do they realise that perhaps they are creating, or at least contributing towards all this frenzy themselves? Even Kim Kardashian comes across as more drama free than these two.

But you cared enough to comment I guess 🤷‍♂️

Because they love it! The drama is worth millions to them, they have to keep it going.

I think this is Harry's game. Not necessarily Meghan's, and certainly not Doria's for whom I feel extremely sorry.

Maybe, as a thought experiment, we could look at it through the lens of two women in a cab trying to appease and handle an erratic man to the extent they go along with his potential bad choices including his refusal to stay in a police station, or to stay in a blacked-out SVU, or to divert to a hotel, or even to put a seat belt on. Just another way of looking at it. In the snapshot we saw, one woman has a fixed face looking straight ahead and the other is looking downwards silently. They're mollifying and mirroring him, while he's mirroring his mother's last journey.

Obviously I know fuck all because no-one does really. No-one even knows if that press statement came solely from Harry rather than 'the Sussexes'. Sounds more like Harry prose to me though.

And you're obviously a fan who can't stand when people criticize them for their behaviour. Which explains why you're so bothered and upset with my post.

I guess they need plenty of fodder for the next three books and the Netflix sagas? Obviously the coronation won’t have proved much footage so looking for anything to avoid breaching the ££££ contracts.

Completely agree with this. And look how he has managed to make his wife being given an (admittedly meaningless but still lol) award and speech all about him and his grievances and his childhood.

That's not true.

Other high profile celebrities have spoken about how they cant go about thier business. How the paps have harrased, pursued, chased, tried to climb property fences and put them in danger.

There is a documentary called $ellebrity, J--Lo, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Elton John and others talk about how the paps have made thier lives hell.

Sarah Jessica Parker talks about when she was pregnant (she lives in NYC) and the paps chasing her, harrasing her and putting her in danger. She said she broke down. Cried and begged the paps to leave her alone. Of course they didn't. They just took pictures of a pregnant women crying.

A blank expression looking in a fixed direction not at the photographers is probably what I would aim to achieve if I were in that situation though. The paparazzi would have loved a picture of Meghan looking cross or upset, or emotional in anyway. Staring straight ahead (or looking down like Doria) with a fixed expression so all pictures of you look the same is probably a reasonable reaction.

FloofCloud · 20/05/2023 06:34

They thrive by creating drama around themselves to then try and gain from it, by looking like they're more interesting than they are or bagging dollars.
Everything that surrounds them though seems to have holes and lies in it, they're now immediately challenged '2hour car chase through NY ... really?!' And rightly so, they need and crave limelight and attention and ensure they're encapsulated in it - frankly they're dull boring liars who sell anyone out for a dime or two

I agree. It seems that each new drama doesn't achieve the desired result, so hot on its heels comes another one. I don't know anyone who actually cares about them any more - as you rightly said, they are dull boring liars.

That documentary was released in 2012, and that type of paparazzi culture has mostly died out with the popularity of camera phones and social media. Both Diana and Kate were unfortunate enough to be subjected to that type of paparazzi invasiveness, and it's a good thing that Meghan never did. Although funny enough, Meghan tried to downplay Kate’s experience in her Oprah interview.

Nowadays we don't see or hear about paparazzi chasing high profile celebrities in places like New York, otherwise we would hear about them in the media like what happened with Britney, Lindsay and Paris. Yet the Sussexes, who frankly speaking are b list at best, are the only ones who seem to have been subjected to this so called paparazzi ‘chase’ in recent times, that nearly caused a catastrophic collision and no one can even produce any evidence of it!

It keeps them current and people talking. I prefer the quieter life but some people love drama. I think it’s a sign of an unbalanced person. We have all had the unpleasant burden of having to deal with drama llamas. I had an old neighbour and boss who were like it. They both had deep rooted problems from unstable families - think along the lines of narcissism.

That’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of that, don’t give them a photo of distress. No idea how they did it though. I inadvertently clicked on a link and the flashing almost gave me a migraine

See, thats not true either.

The culture of paparazzi chasing, harassing, stalking people very much goes on to this day.
You probably are just not aware of it.

Whilst people do have phones and social media, there is still a demand from tabloids and gutter press for pap pictures.
There is huge amount of money for paparazzi to make. And they will do anything to get a picture.
They will climb into gardens, use long lenses, follow, pursue, hang outside peoples houses, and shout out horrible shit like "slag" "whore", just to get a reaction.

Prince William experienced it recently. He was furious that a paparazzi was stalking him and his children while they were trying to enjoy a bike ride. He called them disgusting. This was just in 2021

Prince William shouts at photographer 'you're disgusting' during out of character rant

The video, which was viewed over 20,000 times across the weekend, has since been deleted from YouTube. The Prince labelled the photographer "outrageous" and "disgusting", adding: "Thanks for ruining our day".

LadyMuckingabout · 20/05/2023 08:24

Gotta love the “you hate them!” last resort. I have been reading comments online about the car chase and howling . I think Meghan is 21st century Becky Sharp and as for Harry… just a silly entitled fool.

Rhondaa · 20/05/2023 08:36

Feel sorry for Harry. Where is he going with his constant persecution complexes and overegged dramas. He seems so disturbed.

Can't help thinking it will end sadly one way or another. He needs to get out of the spotlight, do some knitting and calm the fuck down.

polkadotdalmation · 20/05/2023 08:37

It is one drama after another isn't it? Their nonsense does indeed liven up an otherwise pretty boring family and has spawned a million hilarious memes.

Kids on a bike ride, away from anyone else completely different to careering about in a taxi in NYC after a media event. Their security let them down.

Prettylittleroses · 20/05/2023 08:42

I posted on another thread about this, they are doing it to themselves . They do it all the time , it’s attention seeking drama loving bullshit.

they didn’t need to stay at a friends in New York the night of the award, the whole cat and mouse thing they played led to this, they could easily have went to a hotel.
there was no high speed car chase,no one’s life was at risk and they are back tracking.
due to their bullshit story they then “demanded” the agency hand over all images, so the public can’t see them and its disapproved fully, which they know full well they’ve no right to, they could easily have tried to buy or pay to view.

it’s every time, as soon as they get the opportunity they do something as attentions seeking as possible and will twist and exaggerate the truth to get the attention.

it’s ludicrous

Rhondaa · 20/05/2023 08:49

'I posted on another thread about this, they are doing it to themselves . They do it all the time , it’s attention seeking drama loving bullshit'

Yes he is so emotional and fragile you wonder where its all leading. Like you say stay in a hotel one of the many that deal with high profile people safely all the time, why attempt a private residence after a media event?! They are their own worse enemies with the media crap. Don't make controversial reality shows, don't write controversial books. Dont court the media then complain when there is media interest.

Yes and a random taxi driver! Not security cleared, not tested for booze or drugs. Just crazy reckless choices from their hapless 'security' team. But it was the paps putting them in danger 🙄.
