The royal family

Drama, so much drama

I find it strange that in a city like New York, where A list celebrities and famous dignitaries and politicians have been able to go about their business without drama, the Sussexes have yet again found themselves caught in a media frenzy, where chases and near collisions were involved. How is it possible that other more high profile celebrities can avoid this issue yet the Sussexes can't? It's like everywhere they go, drama always ensues. The Royal Family were bullying/jealous of them, nearly caused Meghan to kill herself, were racist towards their son, that they were being harrassed by the media in the UK, Canada and now the US. At what point do they realise that perhaps they are creating, or at least contributing towards all this frenzy themselves? Even Kim Kardashian comes across as more drama free than these two.

Also he has done the worst possib;e thing run away and is rudderless, I work in the NHS and the routine much like the army keeps you in check and gives a structure to your day.
He doesn't have that any more.

He lost his mother very young, the only really loving relative among the stiff upper lip upper class types who never show their emotions they just carry on.
He probably has PTSD.
I expect his PTSD is very much triggered by his mothers death and being chased by paparazzi.
Can't say I'm surprised he freaked out.
It takes a lifetime to get over complex PTSD, I'm 61 and have had it since I was 15. I pretty much have it under control now but its taken a very long time.

But he didn’t freak out at all.

he was calmly filming on his phone.

if he was freaked out, it would be because he knew his current security was inept and directly exposing him to risk.

William also lost his mother - the mother who stated she confided in him, despite his young age (who can forget her story of sobbing in the bathroom and poor wee William passing tissues under the door?).

polkadotdalmation · 23/05/2023 10:46

@TrashyPanda The security head was someone who protected Barack Obama, so hardly inept. The driver making ridiculous moves though, clearly was.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/05/2023 10:48

I guess the thinking was that Meghan minus Harry generates less publicity

I've no idea if Harry was "supposed to be there" or not, but the above bit would certainly explain the rather odd cameo appearances ... the jugggling stunt, the walk-on to make remarks about Serena's hair and so on

ILoveMyBedTooMuch · 23/05/2023 10:51

I always remember that when I first saw H and M on TV. It appeared as if she was the very first woman he had met. He was besotted. She had taken him in hand and blown him away. She offered an alternative I imagine which seems so free and different. He was captive to her. Unfortunately M has always been about M. There is talk of her reviving her Tig blog - all about her. Ive just been reading about it. The same as all her speeches - this is what I did blah blah. he's joined a world where it is all about imagery and listen to me.

LadyMuckingabout · 23/05/2023 10:52

Some posters say Diana would have loved Meghan, but…

If I saw my jobless ds juggling outside a window whilst his dw sat on a throne inside I can’t say I’d be thrilled at all.

driving around in circles for 2 hours rather than going to safe location is exposing client to unnecessary risk

transferring client to unknown vehicle with unknown driver is just plain stupid.

whoever made those decisions, and whatever their experience, made such bad decisions it rendered the safekeeping detail inept

He literally looked like a court jester.

’unalive herself’?

I don’t vilify Kate, Camilla or Jason Knauf so I do apply the exact same rule.

I think many people - some posting on here- are using the examples of posters who unfairly criticise others to legitimise and excuse their own repetitive nasty representations of Meghan. And I’m talking about Meghan because she is overwhelmingly the one woman who is the most subject to disparaging online opinions.

There's a long running thread currently about the possibility of William having an affair.
There's also one about how Camilla shouldn't be known as Queen.
There's regularly threads criticising Kate.
Meghan is not the only woman criticised. Yes she gets a lot, but there's been a lot happening - Oprah, Netflix, her podcast, Harry's book etc.

@TrashyPanda Totally agree with you. Bonkers decisions. Completely inexplicable except to cause drama?

What did Harry say about Serena’s hair? That seems fraught to me.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/05/2023 16:45

AliceOlive the comment was "I like what you've done with your hair. That's a great vibe"

Harmleess enough in itself, but making any comment about a black woman's hair is often considered risky so I wondered if it was perhaps an odd subject to choose

8roses · 23/05/2023 19:29

Because in reality Harry is about as woke as a particularly sleepy sloth -
all cos play

TrashyPanda · 23/05/2023 23:22

Aw, come on.

sloths are cute.

Yes, I agree it's too much drama now and it has to be generated at this stage as must celebrities can avoid 'two hour chases' in Manhattan.

I can only suspect the footage was requested by their lawyers to use in the next Netflix documentary.

Oh god yes, the Gracie Awards… Frankly it’s a bit of a cheek her getting one. It makes you realise that all these awards are just publicity endeavours and if they recognised the truly deserving as opposed to the most famous no one would pay them any attention.

No doubt Meghan will be tearful up on stage about paparazzi and how she will live her life in spite of (her calling) them…

She never showed up. It was about 90mins from where they live which isn't a huge distance by California standards. Also there are rumours that she and Harry have been living in LA, not Montecito, for quite some time hence frequent pap shots of them in various restaurants.

She was also spotted recently at some other event not wearing her engagement rings and (supposedly, but obviously not confirmed) some luxury hotels nearby have leaked details that Harry occasionally stays there alone.

mixedrecycling · 25/05/2023 10:07

I don't want to speculate on their marriage.

It does seem that she didn't turn up to collect the award yesterday. It could have been any number of reasons including, to be fair, being shaken up by the New York situation (hugely mishandled by their staff, but still probably quite unpleasant). Or being unwell, not the 'right' award for her image, or a prior engagement. Anything really.

mixedrecycling · 25/05/2023 10:08

Also there are rumours that she and Harry have been living in LA, not Montecito, for quite some time

Didn't they issue a press release about a 'stalker' - later a 'prowler' - outside their house at Montecito?

TrashyPanda · 25/05/2023 10:44

I agree - let’s not speculate on rumours.

TrashyPanda · 25/05/2023 10:45

I think the prowler was when they were in NY?

there was a statement put out about it.

EmpireStateOfMine · 25/05/2023 10:54

Part of their reputational problem now is that it's all gone a bit boy who cried wolf. They used to get the benefit of the doubt. Now, increasingly, they're not.

Meghan has to weigh up whether the Sussex brand is more valuable to her than the Meghan brand, and whether the Meghan brand will be strong enough to succeed on its own - and then she would have to make a decision on whether to eschew her title.

Total mess all round.
