The royal family

Drama, so much drama

I find it strange that in a city like New York, where A list celebrities and famous dignitaries and politicians have been able to go about their business without drama, the Sussexes have yet again found themselves caught in a media frenzy, where chases and near collisions were involved. How is it possible that other more high profile celebrities can avoid this issue yet the Sussexes can't? It's like everywhere they go, drama always ensues. The Royal Family were bullying/jealous of them, nearly caused Meghan to kill herself, were racist towards their son, that they were being harrassed by the media in the UK, Canada and now the US. At what point do they realise that perhaps they are creating, or at least contributing towards all this frenzy themselves? Even Kim Kardashian comes across as more drama free than these two.

Eh.... she's a nobody anyway. 10 years down the line no-one will remember her.

Just Hollywood, here today gone tomorrow.

Harry has a lineage that no-one in US will ever have.

Feel so sorry for them. They will never be safe. Or free.

She may be a nobody, but she generates more interest than these two. Tbh, say what you will about Kim, but she and her family have created a cultural phenomenon. Her look, her body, have all become popular with the younger generation. For a family who have no talent apart from selling themselves to the public, it's amazing how long they've lasted.

Harry lives in the USA, where royalty isn't much of a big deal. He isn't in the direct line either, and soon enough as the Wales’ children get older and have kids of their own, Harry and his family will just be like the other royal cousins who aren't discussed as much.

They're only in danger in their own minds. I feel sorry for them because they're the architects of their own downfall. They could easily give up their royal connections and remove themselves from the media spotlight, and be truly free. But thats not something they want. So here we are, having to hear their latest outburst/drama/melt down.

That should apply to the sussexes since they're the ones who released that near hysterical statement in the first place. Can't blame the public for reacting the way they do🤷‍♂️

And as a fan you'd know that she generates more media interest than the sussexes because she actually has a product to sell, unlike the sussexes. I'm not even a fan of Taylor swift and even I can see how in demand she is and how much her love life is of interest to her fans and to the public.

TS doesn't generate more interest though.

I don't follow 'celeb culture' yet my newsfeed is inundated with M&H. I have rarely/ever seen anything about TS.

I'm not a royalist. I'm neither pro nor anti M&H. I think the whole RH are utterly ridiculous in this day and age yet even I know that M&H generate more interest than all other members of the RF combined. Whether that is positive or negative interest is irrelevant. Just look at the number of threads on MN alone about M&H. How many threads are there about TS. None. The number of threads about M&H is truly astonishing.

Loathe as I am to type this: Kim Kardashian has had a reality show for 15 years. She has several highly successful businesses. She’s a billionaire. There is an empire around her at and she’s made her entire family wealthy and famous.

I am not a fan, but I would never dismiss her achievements.

AliceOlive · 22/05/2023 00:39

Same with Taylor Swift. She’s incredibly talented and hardworking. Worth hundreds of millions that she earned herself. 338 million social media followers. 48 million YouTube subscribers. She fills stadiums.

Oh dear. Definetely the palace telling the people what to think. Aided and abetted by the press.

Anybody who wanted to do something different on the day of the coronation, god help them.....

‘It was utterly surreal’: police accused of farcical error after 14 arrested at seminar on day of coronation

Primary teacher and ex-civil servant were among those attending class. Here they recount what happened

suburbophobe · 22/05/2023 00:42

Don't forget. This is your life going forward.

And your childrens's.

AliceOlive · 22/05/2023 00:46

Someone apparently paid $90k for a Taylor Swift concert ticket. It’s really ridiculous to dismiss her popularity.

AliceOlive · 22/05/2023 00:49

I don’t understand what relevance this has to anything.

Harry has a lineage that no-one in US will ever have.

Is this the kind of lifestyle you want to emulate? And think this is normal?

Meanwhile people can barely get by with the COL.

Weirdo. You are way out of reality....

Wonder if the KarCrashians are doing anything to help the environment.....

These people are sick.

Like Beyonce and that ugly fucker buying a 200 million house while everyone else lives on the street.

Before you know it you or someone you know will be there.....

Wake up People!

AliceOlive · 22/05/2023 00:57

What? Where did you get any of that? Makes no sense.

I really have to go to bed, but I'll try and explain.

I had a look at 3 tabloids, gossip sites from the USA who are well known for buying paparrazi pictures, Page Six, TMZ, US Weekly. As i understand, these are the big US tabloids for "celebrity" news. Bear in mind these sites are predominantly aimed at the US audience.

Page Six:
A story about Taylor Swift is there. Lovely story about her finding happiness or some such.
They have a whole section purely devoted to the "Royals".
The majority of the articles are about H&M. There are some about Kate, William, Charles etc.

TMZ:
They have a "Most Popular" list
I just had a look at it and it was

  1. Beyonce and Jay Z
  2. Rihanna
  3. Harry and Meghan
  4. Bill Gates

US Weekly:
Nothing on Taylor Swift I could see.
They also have a whole section devoted to "Royals". A lot of articles/pictures about H&M.

Anyway, I've sullied my brain enough reading these gossip rags 😁

AliceOlive · 22/05/2023 02:31

I supposed it’s a question of what there is to talk about. But H&M couldn’t fill stadiums night after night.

AllIeveknewonlyou · 22/05/2023 02:36

H&M can be a bit of a royal soap opera at times which interests people. Nothing like a bit of slanging around in public.

I don't think I know one single Taylor Swift song? She's obviously hugely successful at what she does! I did read she has a very dedicated hardcore fan base, The Swifties

EmpireStateOfMine · 22/05/2023 02:39

Really? Even I know Taylor Swift’s ‘cray cray’ song. Legend.

AllIeveknewonlyou · 22/05/2023 02:52

I will listen to that and see if I know it without knowing it, if that makes sense 😳

Don't turn me into a 'Swiftie', please.

Whenharrymetsmelly · 22/05/2023 03:11

Well it obviously works for you OP given you've started a thread about them ... 🙃

whatsupdoc2 · 22/05/2023 03:29

Where is this photo of H and M in the car chase? I can’t find it.

Aslanplustwo · 22/05/2023 03:59

mixedrecycling · 21/05/2023 05:43

It's a game of diminishing returns, though. Every time there is a drama they get a little less sympathy - whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation (they shouldn't be harassed, they should have predicted the possibility and planned better, both seem to be true to me) it just becomes 'yet another drama'.

I agree, each time there is a drama they lose a few more of the people who initially admired them, but while everyone else can see this they appear incapable of rational thought. It's a bit like the boy who cried wolf, one day there will be an actual serious incident and hardly anyone will take any notice.

pilates · 22/05/2023 05:58

The problem is people are reading/wanting more of H&M not in a positive way but more of a rubbernecking at a bad car crash kind of way. They just need to stop take some time out and be thankful for what they have. All these court cases, books and videos are very unhealthy, especially for their children being brought up in this toxic environment.

polkadotdalmation · 22/05/2023 09:02

@pilates hopefully the children are shielded as they are so young but this way if conducting yourself has to stop.

TrashyPanda · 22/05/2023 10:02

Sunnyeverday · 21/05/2023 12:48

Willy's vile outburst at a lone man was not dissected and criticized. It didn't even make it to morning talk shows talk less of the public being invited to phone in or radio and TV shows to describe his conduct. https://twitter.com/troubleshade/status/1659736068571164672?s=19

He was very restrained.

who wouldn’t be uncomfortable with a stranger stalking you and your young kids?

Harry is the one with the violent temper. God knows what he would have done in the same circumstances.

TrashyPanda · 22/05/2023 10:07

Spectre8 · 21/05/2023 23:45

They released it in response to pics and an article thT was put out by the media who the deleted it once they made a statement...least get your facts right. They didn't just release it for no reason

It was their statement that caused the backlash.

because of the nonsensical hyperbole.

one source had a couple of photos. Nothing from anybody else in NY - an incredibly busy city. Yet only one person had noticed this “near catastrophe”.

as the details came out, it showed their security was clearly inept and that the whole scenario could have been avoided if they had gone straight to their destination, instead of driving around in circles.

the final straw with the public was Omid Scobies comments. He has zero credibility.
