The Duchess couldn't have spoken a truer word. Love it! Saying what the world is thinking!

We get it. You like her.

Stickytreacle · 13/01/2023 10:57

Well it doesn't seem to have helped Harry.

I can only think that if someone is so focused on the wrongs done to them in the past that encouraging them to dwell on them and consider only how they feel and not others feelings can be detrimental.

Quveas · 13/01/2023 10:59

I'm impressed. 193 sycophantic (RF) and vitriolic (H&M) posts in 13 days, and an increase of 56 since yesterday. Possibly, just possibly, therapy might be for you?

amyneedssleep · 13/01/2023 10:59

It might not be for everyone, but it should be far more widely accessible for those struggling than it currently is so this statement just comes across as a bit weird. I'd need to hear the context she's saying it to really draw an opinion, though.

Tell me you don't know what therapy is without telling me you don't know what therapy is

Like Kate’s an expert on mental health now. 🙄

PegasusReturns · 13/01/2023 11:16

I think it’s a fair point.

US therapy, particularly that which occurs in California (of which I have some experience) has a tendency to be very much about validation.

sometimes validation is unhelpful. Sometimes you need to be supported to critically analyse your feelings.

the fact the Harry had clearly been supported to share minor grievances as if they were significant abuse is not helpful to him.

The context was a teen telling her that music therapy had helped him as he found it hard to talk. Kate said well talking therapy is not for everyone . She was affirming this kid's experience.

Well that's absolutely fine and valid and not a dig at Harry like the OP and the article presented it. Gutter-level reporting, as usual.

Which was a nice thing to say. The important thing is people that need help, get it, whatever that is for them.

I’m sure if she had been told by someone that talking therapy helped them, she’d have said something equally as nice. Part of her job is to have pleasant conversations with people. It’s unhelpful to use her words in a way which they were not meant, to have a dig at Harry, as thats also shitty to others that have felt talking therapy has helped them.

Spot on.

As an aside, WHEN will the glib and pointless "Tell me X without telling me Y" formula die? It must be soon surely?

You have some.. Well I have a lot, and that’s not my experience at all.

Mincepiepies · 13/01/2023 11:28

Maybe she needs to get some therapy to learn how to be a decent person to her family and not sit back and do nothing whole horrible stories are being leaked about her sister in law?

Etinoxaurus · 13/01/2023 11:31

@Kateforqueen for the love of wee donkey get some fresh air.

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 11:32

It was for me. It helped me. Wouldn't rule out more therapy. But .............it's true, it's not for everybody.

@Mincepiepies when the truth came out about the original source of the upset, it made Meghan look worse! She upset kate, Kate had an upset reaction which upset meghan and meghan cried. Classic Darvo.

Well define therapy! There's plenty classed as therapy out there that really isn't.

GloomyDarkness · 13/01/2023 11:37

From article:

Visiting various locations in Merseyside, William and Kate met several young adults at the Birkenhead-based Open Door charity on Thursday (12 January), which provides access to arts-based therapeutic support.
They spent time with Open Door’s volunteers, mentors and staff to hear about the progressive arts-based therapeutic models that have been developed to help young adults cope with mental health issues including anxiety and depression.

During the visit, Kate asked: “Has producing music and taking part in those workshops helped? Has it helped with your personal lives?”
One young person replied that using music as a tool helped him express his emotions.
He said: “Producing music and letting out what you’re feeling is better than saying it in a clinical atmosphere.”

According to The Sun, Kate replied: “Talking therapies don’t work for some people, they’re not for everybody. It’s so important to have a range of therapies.”
She added: “Everyone is talking a lot more about mental health.
“There have often been negative connotations around it. But if we get across that there are these more positive spaces and experiences out there, then we are changing how we talk about it.”

I'm not sure it's about Harry at all - though I could see why many think it could apply there as well.

Mardyface · 13/01/2023 11:39

My kids school offers a kind of talking therapy from an organisation founded by this woman, so I hope she's not going to change her mind about funding that too.

What a load of distraction from this shit show of a country this all is.

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 11:41

I wonder when Kate and William are doing their next - mental health is so important and we think it is important to support projects that support this - pr piece?

Coxspurplepippin · 13/01/2023 11:42

She said a nice thing to a teen she met. Not everything's about flamin' Harry.
