Did Wiiliam do the right thing ignoring the book questions today

Yes I think he did. He didn't say no comment just totally ignored the question. Just seen it on TV. In any case it's probably up to Charles to make the first comment if there is going to be one. Maybe there will be a vague official statement like its being taken on board but its a private family matter. Who knows.

Bet he’d love to tell his own side, but good on him, if he commented he would be wrong, so it’s best to ignore questions.

Wilkolampshade · 12/01/2023 19:07

DH's old firm became uncomfortably newsworthy for a while. It was a small place so they were all potentially in the firing line with the press. Their bosses' lawyers gave strict instructions to say nothing at all if approached, not even 'no comment'. Seemed to work.

Viviennemary · 12/01/2023 19:08

I agree. I bet he would have plenty to say about Harry and his behaviour over the years.

Yes, I think ignoring was the best thing to do.

DerangedViper · 12/01/2023 19:12

Yes of course he did the right thing

It's clear they are not going to respond

confusedcentral5 · 12/01/2023 19:13

Bet he’d love to tell his own side

they will through a "royal source" 😆 how did the story that M made K cry get out there?

Jellykat · 12/01/2023 19:16

Absolutely he did.. refined silence is classy and professional, otherwise it becomes akin to a playground tit for tat

Adviceneeded200 · 12/01/2023 19:17

Yes because there isn't a fast answer.

He is safer not engaging.

On balance, it seems to be backfiring on H. Not £££, the book is selling, but with the content H seems to have generated some sympathy for what William and Kate have had to deal.with.

watchfulwishes · 12/01/2023 19:20

He has no option in public, IMO. Once he says anything it'll not stop.

They can just carry on briefing shit through back channels anyway. It is not as if the tabloids are going to switch sides anytime soon, they know which side their bread is buttered.

wickerhearth · 12/01/2023 19:21

I guess... because answering to one question will lead to more questions given.
By ignoring this particular topic, the whole family stay safe and off the drama...at least for now.

blubberyboo · 12/01/2023 19:24

The video I saw the question was shouted from a distance as he and Kate approaches someone to shake hands… i doubt they even heard over the crowd noise and camera clicks but it would have been rude to turn away from the person greeting them and talk crap to a journalist.. so yes he did right!

even more laughable was the headline “journalist asks Charles about the book”

the video shows Charles hand waving from an open car window as a softly spoken journalist asks him what he thought about the book as the car whizzes past and very loud bagpipes play.

um yep he definitely heard that!

Bagsundermyeyestoday · 12/01/2023 19:27

Maybe he doesn't want to comment if he genuinely cares and is worried about his brother. I had a family member like this, so many people just wanted to get some gossip about him. No comment was basically my response too 🤷🏼‍♀️

CPL593H · 12/01/2023 19:56

What could he possibly say? "Yes I've read it and if he comes back here the frostbitten knob is on a one way trip to the Tower"?

Ignoring is expected, consistent and can't be misconstrued (and provide another 50 pages in Harry's next magnum opus)

Er, Harry basically disclosed this in his book. How Charlotte was in tears at the baggy ill fitting dress, kate was texting Meghan asking what could be done, being fobbed off by an unhelpful reply from Meghan. Kate well aware the worlds eyes would be on Charlotte, the other bridesmaids/pageboys as well as the bride, and these pictures would reflect badly on her as a mum and would be in the public domain for eternity. Having to get her own wedding dress maker to make alterations. Stress +++ at just a few weeks post partum, a newborn to care for and bridezilla to deal with. I'm sure Meghan was also in tears at all the stress.

If only 😂😂

🤣I wish he had said that, it’s worthy of a meme.

rumship · 12/01/2023 21:57

Hopefully palace solicitors have advised to ignore all questions while they scour Harry's Fantasyland novel for a juicy lawsuit down the line.

Remember that we have only Harry's word about the existence, extent and intent of briefings to the press.

And we all have a good idea about his accuracy and reliability now

oohokay · 13/01/2023 16:06

@Wilkolampshade that's interesting, I imagine legally "no comment" can be published as a comment in itself, with its implications of guilt

Viviennemary · 13/01/2023 17:19

Anyway it all seems to have dropped out of the news now. I bet the royals will be breathing a sigh of relief till the next book or interview. Will this go on for years to come. Its awful of Harry digging up all these past incidents. And he says he wants privacy. Hope they stay away from the ccoronation. But the speculation will he wont he goes on.

OP posts:
purpledalmation · 14/01/2023 14:50

Yes. It's a road to nowhere to engage with a paranoid entitled arrogant prick like Harry.

Florissant · 14/01/2023 14:54

Yes. Absolutely.
