The Christmas Walk to Church

Hello

Just wondering if this will be on again this year?

I'd like to see Wills & Kate.

Maybe the Queen will be driven?

Google tells me it's Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.

Is it just locals who line the walk or do saddos like me drive down and stay somewhere? (Or sleep in car)

Thanks

Probably do it. May be one of the last big ones, given Queens age and Im sure less royals will go when she is gone, so if you wanted to go now would be the time. Go this year. Loads of people go…either local or travel for it.

I went once as a child with my parents and waited in the rain. Even though the church is part of the sandringham estate it is outside of the area that you have to pay to enter. We duly lined up and eventually saw all the crew go past, Charles and Diana, Andrew and Fergie, loads more plus the queen who told her chauffeur to pull up in the car so that she could wind her window down to talk to a small child who was waiting with a posy for her. It was nice.

@CoolShoeshine thanks! It's lovely to hear from someone who has done it!
I will avoid it this year as it will be busy.
But one for my bucket list for next year or the year after once the novelty of Charles has worn off and the crowns lessened!

It's a beautiful church, if you ever get a chance to go in. Prince John I'd buried there.

I went as a child, must have been late 80s. I took flowers and gave them to Diana. It was just locals, I think. It was a nice thing to do, and something I still remember.

I've done it about 4 times, in recent years. Most of the family walk from the house but the Queen always came by car when I went.
The year when Meghan was expecting Archie the queue to get through the gate was veeeery long. Meghan was the pull factor then. I eventually gave up hope of getting in and I went for a coffee and a mooch in the shop. I knew that at the end of the service the Queen would go back by car so I stood where I'd be able to see the car. She was on the other side of the car from where I was but Beatrice was with her and gave a smile and a very natural, unaffected wave as they went past. I mean much more than a little polite movement of the hand. I didn't have any sense of her being snobby or 'entitled'. She just seemed friendly.
If it's been wet weather wellies or stout boots are a good idea.
Will C and C use Sandringham for Christmas?
(Prince Charles used to go to Sandringham Flower Show with the Queen Mother.)

Thanks everyone!
I'd be coming from Scotland. Is there anywhere to stay nearby?

If you’re on a budget I’ve been told the weatherspoons in kings lynn has hotel accommodation which is pretty good.
