Queen "seen in London"

The Sun has a really strange story saying that the Queen has been seen in London without a walking stick. There is no photo taken of the Queen supposedly wandering about London.

I cant see how this could be true. But why would The Sun publish such a strange story?

@Lacedwithgrace

Maybe the conspiracy theory that she's dead is real? And the Sun are in on it
Terrifying thought that the Sun would be trusted with something like that! The world really is going to hell in handbasket if that's the case.
TheFlis12345 · 20/12/2021 16:47

I don’t see anything weird about it. There has been a lot of speculation about her health, particularly since she cancelled the wider family Christmas lunch, so assume this is a ‘leaked’ story to assure the public that she is well.

I hope she has a good few years left in her yet.

@Hodl

Wasn't it announced that HM wouldn't be attending the annual walk to church on Christmas Day?

Something is definitely afoot. Very strange.

What’s strange about an old lady facing a decline in her health following the death of her beloved husband?
Choux · 20/12/2021 17:00

Just read it and interpreted it as a hint that she was in London at the hospital but nothing too serious as she didn't need a stick.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 17:10

@bigbluebus sounds a lovely book.

@TheFlis12345 if its a leaked story from the palace, then it is a not very good way of pretending the Queens health is fine when it clearly isnt.

WinnieTheW0rm · 20/12/2021 17:56

My take on this is that it's a shot over the bows of the Palace, letting them know that the Queen was seen, and that they have a good idea about what she was doing and therefore why.

There was serious backlash when they said overtly that she has been seen in hospital back in October.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 18:02

That is an interesting theory Winnie. So at hospital appointment maybe?

WinnieTheW0rm · 20/12/2021 18:29

I've just had a pop up from Sky stating that the Queen is staying at Windsor (not going to Sandringham) for Christmas

I wonder if its omicron related (reducing mixing)?

aliceca · 20/12/2021 18:38

Or because she isnt well enough to travel?
She is basically staying home and some family will visit her.

Queen "seen in London"
She lives local, there isn’t a lock down.
No doubt she would be wearing her best mask.
If HM can’t go for a burger then we really are in the shit.😁

aliceca · 20/12/2021 19:10

She was snapped after all.

I do feel The Queen has probably been diagnosed with something quite serious, though of course at 95 anyone's life expectancy is limited. Dementia is highly unlikely imo, she seems as sharp as ever mentally and although she may well have had a fall she doesn't appear to have suffered any obvious injury.

At the Remembrance Sunday service the Duchess if Cambridge seemed very upset, surely not related to the event itself which she has attended many times before. It wasn't long after the hospital visit and The Queen had been intending to attend until the last minute.

She also reminded us all that no one lives forever in her speech to COP26 which may or may not have been a coded message.

@ShamedBySiri

You make good points.

Also, I was shocked and upset by how frail she looked last week with the Sultan of Oman.

Excellent point, WinnieTheW0rm.

CariadWelshcake · 21/12/2021 08:36

Actually a few previous post have now got me thinking and I feel rather scared for her. Surely if whatever is ailing HM wasn’t that much of a problem then all appts could be done at the palace and if she’s attending a hospital then does it mean there was a need for specialised equipment?

A580Hojas · 21/12/2021 08:49

I saw a still from her speech to the Nation at the start of lockdown - the one where she said "we'll meet again" - and she has lost so much weight and aged considerably since then. I hope she's ok. Like all very old people she's facing her final years or months with very limited social contact and no guarantees she'll outlive the pandemic. All rather sad.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/12/2021 09:39

Her dresses are very loose on her now. I’d have thought her dressmaker could adjust them to fit easily enough so it didn’t show so much.

I do love HMQ. Worried she is fading away. The loss of her best friend, her strength and stay is obviously affecting her too. I’m not surprised she’s concerned about William flying his family around himself. He could go up a level in succession pretty soon. I do hope HMQ has many more years left. Her mother lived for a long time.

aliceca · 21/12/2021 10:51

@A580Hojas The fact she hasn't left the palace except for a hospital appointment indicates she probably doesn't want to, or isn't up to doing much anyway. I know by the time my gran was approaching her final year and months, she no longer wanted to go out. She just got too tired and it was too much.
I came across a story about the Queen flying to Sandringham by helicopter for the weekend after Cop26 with the man who looks after her horses. Under the article there was a lot of outrage at her flying after her talk at Cop 26. But someone suggested that maybe she knew the end was coming and had gone to say goodbye to her horses.

OP posts:
aliceca · 21/12/2021 10:54

Just to add, I know from experience that very old people who are obviously fading can still last a surprisingly long time. So it doesn't automatically mean she will die soon. She may still live for a few more years.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/12/2021 15:29

Doesn’t look like this story went anywhere. Just another story about the Royals.

thereisonlyoneofme · 21/12/2021 15:56

aliceca you are very active in starting threads about the RF ,bit overinvested

aliceca · 21/12/2021 15:57

Yes I probably am over invested.
I thought that is why there was a separate RF board, for people like me.

OP posts:
DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/12/2021 16:08

There’s another poster called Juliaca I think that’s the name. They have the same passion for the RF as you do. You’d get on well.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 21/12/2021 16:11

Reading the article I find it a strange one too. Especially the quote
"This is such a boost ahead of Christmas when everyone is so down in the dumps right now”
Bizarre
