Just for fun.

Rules of the game:

  1. You buy a mug/teatowel/thimble or other Wills and Kate tacky memorabilia. Tackier the better. A possible 3 points up for grabs.
  1. You place said item in your house - can be anywhere you like but extra points awarded for amusing placement or placement amongst particularly tasteful and charming items. Maximum 3 points will be awarded for this.
  1. You await comments from your friends and relatives.
  1. Points are awarded for:
  • horrified comments - 2pts
  • surprised comments - 2pts
  • insincere comments such as, "Oh, how nice your Will and Kate thimble looks beside your Emma Bridgewater mugs" - 3 pts.
  • sincere comments - 5pts
  • offers to come around and have a look at Royal Memorabilia Collection - 25pts.
  • extra points may be awarded for making judge (ie. ME) laugh.

Post on this thread if you are in. And get a pic on your profile.

Simba
Thanks, found it.

I think it is not tacky enough though. And why Kate and not Catherine? I thought she was to be known now as Catherine?

DH did not manage to bring a mug from Scotland, but he did bring me these magazines.

I already have up (on dresser shelves)

2 mugs with Her Majjers one
One Charles and Di one
Picture of her Maj

I even bought the Daily Fail yesterday for the plate but it's millions of tokens and I'm not bloody buying it again.

So count me in. I particularly like serving tea in Royal mugs to my dirty commie friends, adding a slice of cake on a Wills'n'Kate plate would be excellent.

MmeL - I fear I may not be able to join in your comp, will have to look around here in Aus to see what I can find (although I could be onto a winner with a commemorative beer holder, if I find one!)

Am so NOT going to buy this! Grin

I am going to ring my mother later to see if she still has the home video of our street party in 1981 for Charles and Diana. She made me a lovely red, white and blue paper skirt in celebration of the wedding. I will, of course, recreate this memory next year for William and Catherine.

Anyway, enough of that. I'm in.

MmeLindt · 21/11/2010 21:23

Hurrah. We have quite a few contestants now.

Ok. Any ideas where we could share the photos? I can put them up on my blog, if that would be ok with you lot? No names if you prefer to remain anonymous.

LOVE the patriotic skirt idea.

Wonder if I could do an ironic Garden Party on the day of the wedding.

LOL at ironic garden party.

I emailed a few of my neighbours this week to suggest a street party. I thought it would obviously be seen as a joke but no, they love the idea and we're going with it. So my paper skirt may well happen...

MmeLindt · 22/11/2010 15:37

Ok. Have ordered mine on eBay. Should be here by next week, in time for my party.

There is not deadline. We will just all report back on reactions over the next couple of weeks or so - I don't have that many visitors (without sounding like Johnny-No-Mates) so will need a while to get a couple of reactions.

Anyone got their mugs yet?

No, not yet. I'm going to the market on Saturday and will have a mooch for tat something suitable.

Bugger.

Date is no use for a Garden Party. 29th April is last day of school holidays, everyone will still be away.

Wills. That was badly planned.

But! It is my younger DS's birthday so I can go to town on theme. He's only 2 so won't care if I have patriotic bunting and Will and Kate plates. I will start collecting them now. My mate has suggested a royally themed pin the tail on the royal and suggested Edward.

MmeLindt · 23/11/2010 20:37

Oh, that is cool. It is DD's birthday on 27th April, and now I come to think of it - I do believe MIL's birthday is on the 29th.

Shit.

We are going to be there so I won't be able to have my Garden Party at all.

Meh.
