I wonder if we will get a Bank Holiday for it.

Oh, in the past, John Adams was president and, later, his son, John Quincy Adams.

It's possible, John Kennedy, Jr., had he lived, may have run for president as well.

But it's like the mafia. Of course the son of the president should be able to run. I'm just disputing the idea that George "Brains" Bush was the best man for the job out of all the people in America.

I also don't think the Royal families' 'informal' power counts at all. That's like the old patriarchal joke of 'it's the wife who wears the trousers' . In other words, pretending that wives has any power to speak of. THe royal family has no political power. But I think psychologically they're good for the nation because the BIg Bossman prime minister can't get too big for his boots

He ran, people elected him. The best person for the job usually doesn't want to run - Colin Powell springs to mind - because it's a shit job.

I know a lot of people think that PC shouldn´t be King, but if he is, it would at least allow these two to have a relatively normal family life until any children are perhaps teens or so.

And although KM has had a much more priveledged life than most(?) of us, I still think she is more ordinary than Diana who for example was titled, & brought up on the family estate and had staff.

CheerfulYank · 21/11/2010 02:01

Well, of course he wasn't the best person to run the country. Apparently enough people didn't know that, though. :)

Sakura · 22/11/2010 00:54

Apparently they did, seeing as he wasn't even elected.
Al Gore was elected by the people, but that wasn't acceptable to the Bush's so the votes in Florida were recounted because his brother was the governer of Florida. Surprise, surprise- the second time round Bush appeared to win.

Hope the pair of them die in an earthquake. They might be seen as just humans then.

FourFortyFour · 26/02/2011 19:15

What a terrible thing to say.
