This one needs to be hidden for MNHQ tomorrow

Hi Night Watch, Another thread has been started tonight about the tragic case of Archie Battersbee. MNHQ deleted a previous thread as not in the spirit after polite warnings went unheeded - personal attacks against the mother and speculation on the legal process and ongoing situation a real and devastated mother and family are going through right now. I see this thread is the same. I think it should be hidden tonight for MNHQ to decide tomorrow. Hopefully it will be deleted too.

theres nothing bad on there!!!

NotYetAnotherUsername · 29/06/2022 22:53

We have to agree to differ on that, pp. It is similar to the last one, which MNHQ deleted.

It is a judicial case in the news - individual posts that may break TG - report away but you can't censor discussion about this

PansyPetunia · 29/06/2022 22:56

mumsnet is getting more ridiculous by the day!

NotYetAnotherUsername · 29/06/2022 22:57

MNHQ may disagree pp, given they deleted the last thread...

OP posts:
PansyPetunia · 29/06/2022 23:00

theres 2 threads running ....not been deleted, and why would they? theres no need to

NotYetAnotherUsername · 29/06/2022 23:09

I hadn't seen the other thread pp, only the deleted one, which was awful and the one I linked to looks the same. I'll leave it up to Night Watch and MNHQ now.

OP posts:
PansyPetunia · 29/06/2022 23:10

the deleted thread has been re instated now

NotYetAnotherUsername · 29/06/2022 23:20

It is a different one to the one you are talking about pp. That one has been reinstated I see. The deleted one I mean has stayed deleted, and so it should.

A discussion on a high profile case should be allowed.

I agree, this poor family is being subjected to far too much speculation and criticism, are they not suffering enough?

NotYetAnotherUsername · 30/06/2022 00:04

It was the previous thread I am referring to, and that one stayed deleted.

I‘m sorry if I have misunderstood this and if I derail at all…I wasn’t aware that threads could be hidden from the view of everyone? I thought hiding a thread meant it was only hidden from your own active conversations, have I got that wrong?

Thank you @AnotherDayAnotherView - I agree. Many of the posts are ghoulish and not in the spirit. Why start yet another thread and once MNHQ is closed for the day, when one was deleted, and one was deleted and reinstated but is still current?

But it's up to Night Watch and MNHQ now.

Hi OP
MNHQ have let this one stand so far so I’m going to leave it.
I can hide individual replies if necessary- I’ll keep an eye on it in any case.
thanks for bringing it to the attention of the NightWatch Flowers

(the NightWatch mods can hide problem threads overnight until HQ can take a look at them)

No problem at all, @TwoBigNoisyBoys - overnight our Night Watch volunteers can hide a thread from everyone if it is of concern. MNHQ will then look at it during office hours and either deleted it or reinstate it. It's different to users hiding a thread or topic from our own eyes.

It was the previous thread I am referring to, and that one stayed deleted.

But given that MN has let a subsequent one stay up, why did you assume that this one should be deleted? As pointed out on the current thread, there are plenty of threads all over MN discussing personal and public tragedies, why pick on this one which is very much in the public domain already? Not least by virtue of the activities of the family's FB supporters.

NotYetAnotherUsername · 30/06/2022 00:17

Hi @NiteWotcha - I thought it might have been started after office hours today, but to be fair there is apparently another ongoing thread about Archie which was also deleted but reinstated. I didn't know about that one, only the permanently deleted one.

Thanks. Hope you have a quiet night. Flowers

Thanks @NotYetAnotherUsername
I can see your concerns but I think it’s better to let HQ decide on this one Flowers

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 30/06/2022 00:47

Thank you @NotYetAnotherUsername! I was worried for a little while then that every time I hide a thread it was disappearing for everyone! Thank you for clarifying, sorry for the small derail!
