Suicidal thread

Why are mothers so judgemental?

Have reported. Please take a look nightwatch.

It's upsetting me to be blamed (with other posters) for someone's suicidal thoughts

Bump

Helloooooo..... nightwatch....

OP posts:
LondonLassInTheCountry · 22/10/2018 01:53

Its the OP issues...

She was clearly suicidal before she posted.
I wouldnt stress to much about it

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 22/10/2018 01:56

It is the OP issues.

But whatever is now said on that thread... might help but could make it worse if it is genuine.

Tonight I can handle and distance myself by reporting. I shouldn't have to (nor should anyone else)

OP posts:
LondonLassInTheCountry · 22/10/2018 01:57

Just dont comment on it anymore and "hide" the thread if you can

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 22/10/2018 02:04

I haven't clicked on it since posting last. But can see NW haven't made it there as it's not at zero and goes up in comment numbers in my "threads I'm on"

Whilst me personally it's annoying more than it's distressing tonight that NW haven't hidden it yet. I think @MNHQ need to follow consistency in handling such threads

This one might be okay. Another may end in tragedy (and no MN user needs to feel responsible)

OP posts:
ANightWatcher · 22/10/2018 02:14

Thread has been hidden now. It hadnt been before now because it wasn't spotted by any NW members. Unfortunately there's no guarantee someone will be here & the notification system for us isn't great.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 22/10/2018 02:14

Bumping

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 22/10/2018 02:16

It's down now. Thanks Nightwatch

They should look into improving that or have some sort of automatic warning ⚠️ if you use certain words in a post

OP posts:
Failingat40 · 22/10/2018 02:16

Why would anyone feel responsible unless they'd been posting nasty judgemental comments on that particular posted threads?

Any mumsnetter who does do that needs to give their head a wobble anyway. Words, both written and said can trigger people with MH issues over the edge.

Anyway, I'm sure the desperate poster in question will have her thread zapped soon enough. None of the nasties of MN need lose any sleep over it.

ANightWatcher · 22/10/2018 02:18

I'm wondering if there's any way we could get an alert when a thread is created on the NW board 🤔 I think I'll make enquiries

bumblebee39 · 22/10/2018 02:18

What's the night watch please? Tia X

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 22/10/2018 02:20

@Failingat40 some people feel responsible for things they shouldn't. Suicidal threads can be particularly triggering.

I'd like to wobble out of my own MH conditions but one of them has a symptom of an overinflated sense of responsibility. I'm also outspoken enough to bleat on, on behalf of others who may find it triggering or worrying.

OP posts:
ANightWatcher · 22/10/2018 02:20

It's members who are able to hide threads or posts when MNHQ are off duty

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 22/10/2018 02:22

Ah please do... I was under the impression that would be how it worked... you watch the nightwatch 😂

OP posts:
bumblebee39 · 22/10/2018 02:25

I understand thanks 😊
