HQ there is currently an active thread that op needs deleting urgently re winning something. I’m going to report this post to you so that you can find it as I don’t want to put the link on here because of privacy

Please can you help?

OP posts:
VaguelyAware · 18/02/2018 00:14

Great minds think alike, OP! I just posted in NW too.

ANightWatcher · 18/02/2018 00:19

It's already been explained on the thread this isn't in NW remit - sorry

Bloomed · 18/02/2018 00:25

Can you hide it?

ANightWatcher · 18/02/2018 00:26

No as I've explained it doesn't fall under NW remit. MNHQ are quite clear with what we can and can't do

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 18/02/2018 00:27

They have explained on the thread that they can't.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 18/02/2018 00:44

So a woman, in an abusive situation, cannot have her thread hidden because no one has the gumption to do something that is right, in case they ‘get in trouble’. God help us.

Cloudylemons · 18/02/2018 00:45

It’s gone now

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 18/02/2018 00:46

AnnieAnoniMouse all sorts of threads have stood in the past. It's a discussion that's regularly held.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 18/02/2018 00:46

Wonder why they were so sure they couldn’t before then changed their minds?

ShellyBoobs · 18/02/2018 00:49

Wonder why they were so sure they couldn’t before then changed their minds?

Perhaps they can’t delete threads unless they’re very obviously bullshit?

RavenclawRealist · 18/02/2018 00:53

I think night watch can't delete threads for privacy, they can delete threads that break talk guidelines (I'm guessing troll hunting in this case) once the guidelines are broken the thread is in their remit before that it isn't!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 18/02/2018 01:00

Well Ravensclaw I think YOU are a troll.

...if that’s what it takes to get this thread deleted now 🙄

LesDennishair · 18/02/2018 01:03

The lottery winner thread! Hmmmmmm

It's gone now.

sobeyondthehills · 18/02/2018 01:03

The Night Watch team are volunteers, they get to threads as and when they can.

Also (with all due respect)They have literally no powers, they can hide threads.

You want more doing over the weekend and between 5pm and9am then I suggest you start petitioning MNHQ for people who are paid to monitor the website over those hours and not allow trolls, pervets and people who make up shit to be allowed to continue throughout the night

Just a thought

LesDennishair · 18/02/2018 01:05

A sensible thought, sobeyond.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 18/02/2018 01:08

...if that’s what it takes to get this thread deleted now

AnnieAnoniMouse Why would we need this thread deleted? Confused

ohfourfoxache · 18/02/2018 01:10

Sorry ANightWatcher, I didn’t see your post on the thread - sorry if I was too hasty in starting this thread Blush

OP posts:
AnnieAnoniMouse · 18/02/2018 01:13

Because, as LesDennishair just proved, people wont be able to resist discussing it, in detail, at which point, having the original thread deleted will become pointless.

LesDennishair · 18/02/2018 01:15

Because, as LesDennishair just proved, people wont be able to resist discussing it, in detail
I don't think I have discussed anything or in detail. Confused

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 18/02/2018 01:50

AnnieAnoniMouse You’re joking, right? Saying “the lottery winner thread” isn’t discussing anything in detail. What hyperbole.

NailedOn50 · 18/02/2018 02:03

MNHQ turn down expat Nightwatch volunteers; I don’t know why... clearly they need as many hands on deck as possible

ohfourfoxache · 18/02/2018 02:19

Could there be a way of doing something automatically? So for example, if an op is reported X number of times/over a certain threshold then it’s automatically hidden until HQ can review and un-hide it?

That could be massively abused by users.

sobeyondthehills · 18/02/2018 02:46

A sensible thought, sobeyond. Thank you LesDennishair although like always it will be ignored till the next time I have to suggest it

Nightwatcher · 18/02/2018 02:47

MNHQ turn down expat Nightwatch volunteers

Erm no they don't
