Troll/begging thread still up hours after being reported

OP has been uncovered as a troll (whole family were strict vegetarians last week, today she spent her last bit of cash on a chicken for dinner and needs some help to be less skint) ~ was reported hours ago but it's still up. Why?

Worryingly, there's at least one poster who was about to send her money, but didn't because the troll-hunting alerted her not to.

Awesome system, this: no paid night staff with full authority, begging trolls left up for hours ... but hey, no troll hunting, it's against the rules

I don't understand what's going on here at all.

It's been reported to MNHQ. It's been raised with Night Watch.

Nothing has been done about it.

MNHQ have commented on the thread they're aware of it and have decided it can stay. It's been looked at. The OP hasnt been back since MNHQ posted after receiving reports. NW hiding it til they can look at it is pointless they've already looked at it

How about blanket deleting every post on these threads offering money even when the threads do seem legit (obviously this one wasn't!)?

Also, how about some kind of MNHQ thread in each topic or permanently in Active (rather than hidden in its own section) altering users to possible scams or anything they need to be aware of?

Also, give the night shift the authority to do a bit more, at least as a temporary measure until morning when day shift can review.

On this occasion it was necessary for PPs to troll hunt.

Just to clarify - we really don't expect the nightwatchers to make judgement calls like this, although it's completely understandable if they get a bit over enthusiastic sometimes! It's always one for MNHQ. They very kindly (and they do a fantastic job ) hide spammy posts and anything truly egregious. Absolutely anything else is one for us to decide on, it would be too much (and unfair) to ask for anything more.

If anyone is ever unhappy with how we've handled a thread, please do report to us and we will get to it as soon as we can; we read every single one.

The reports last night weren't achieving anything, though. New readers of the thread had to get past the first 50 or so posts before someone commented on the inconsistency in the family's food preferences compared with a long and quite indignant thread just a few weeks back.

I think people do need to take some personal responsibility. A huge chunk of threads here are trolls and plenty of begging threads in the past.

Hq cant possibly know who is genuine or not with much degree of accuracy. People need to keep their wits about them.
