Cat Flu- really rapid onset, afternoon at vets

Feeling very emotional this evening. My sweet 9 year old chocolate tortie who seemed fine this morning became rapidly unwell this afternoon and by 3pm was breathing at 60 per minute and obviously in distress. Dash to the vets, bloods, anti biotics and anti inflammatory medicine we brought her home and she's due back at 8.45 tomorrow morning.
She's never been poorly and I'm just so stunned how quickly she deteriorated and how obviously unwell she is. Constantly monitoring.

I'm so sorry to hear this, no advice but I didn't want to read and run. Fingers crossed the meds work and she gets better soon🤞

We had a very similar situation last year . And told to prepare for the worst. But she made a good recovery. The vet said that cats can hide illness very well sometimes.
Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery

Thankyou xx husband and I are splitting the night, I'm staying up to watch her until 3 then he'll take over while I get some sleep before we go back to the vets. Thankfully I booked this week off work. I really am worried

My friend’s cat had cat flu very suddenly like this, decades ago now. Friend stayed up all night, spoon fed her fluids, watched her like a hawk, and she did turn the corner and pull through, to live on for many more years. Sending love to your little cat for a similar recovery.

Daughters kitten they think caught COVID from her back in December 2019. Was awful but she pulled through. Is a big healthy ragdoll who's never been ill since.

We'll all send good thoughts tonight.
