Why is my cat sat on me?

He’s not a lap cat. Had him for 3 years without any inclination to sit on me. Past two days he keeps pawing at me and wanting me to put a blanket on my lap for him
cat tax attached. I don’t mind but he’s nearly 7kg and I think I’m getting DVT

I think it mostly stems from him being a cat. It's the only explanation really.

Yup. Coz cat. And a very gorgeous cat, too!

It could be the weather. Our dogs and cats have been acting odd. One dog that never wants to sit on us and is too big to sit on our laps, has spent a lot of the last 2 days on our laps! I think it’s actually true that they can sense a storm coming and then obviously hear it when it arrives which makes them act differently.

Just wanted to add that’s he’s a beauty. What a lovely shiny coat he has!

it’s stormy and cold here and my usually emotionally distant cat has been a bit clingy. Maybe that it?

Could you be pregnant?

could also be trying to tell you that you have a health issue

Either he’s cold and using you as his human hot water bottle (I am currently cat trapped under my chilly 17yo boy!) or you’re pregnant.

No he’s eating, zooming round, shouting for food and tried to chew my crisps earlier so usual behaviour

Oh god I’ve got enough health issues already! I mean I COULD technically be pregnant but stage 4 endo and a mirena coil so I bloody well hope not

Only time my last cat sat on my lap was when he was unwell or cold. Put the heating on yet? :-)

That's weird as mine is 18 and never sat on anyone until she fell asleep on my knee yesterday.

It’s because it has got cold. My 3 don’t go near me during the summer and now they are all fighting for my lap 🤣

Mine has done the same for the past two nights. It must be the weather. My foot fell asleep but it was glorious.

It's the weather - our two kittens are experiencing their first real storm, and as a result are all up in our face instead of rampaging outdoors as normal...

Yours is a very handsome boy indeed, and glad to see him in his rightful place on the kitchen counter...
