Wet food help

Hi all
Hoping for a little help, I seem to own the 2 fussiest cats to walk planet earth. They are just over a year old.
i have tried every variation of Whiskas, Gourmet Perle and Sheeba in gravy and jelly and they seem interested at first then refuse to even look at the wet food (usually after I have bought a big box of it!)
They have the Wiskas dry biscuits and will eat a few mouthfuls of them throughout the day but I’m worried they aren’t eating enough.
I looked at the subscription foods like Katkin but it was about £22 a week.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a wet food that won’t bankrupt me but they might enjoy?
Photo of when they were far less troublesome!

I feed mine Mon petit as that's the only thing they'll accept (with Purina one biscuits) but have you tried the regular supermarket wet foods?

Coffeedrinker10 · 25/10/2026 20:46

The only wet food mine will eat is Felix As Good As It Looks in jelly. He gets a pouch in the morning and Purina One biscuits.

I have about 4 types of wet food and give a different variety for breakfast and dinner.

Royal Canin kitten then Royal Canin adult.

Untamed, it seems more expensive but it’s really not as they won’t need to eat as much.

My cats wont eat the 'good' cat food that looks like shredded chicken/actual fish. I pick my battles as they eat a good quality dry food

My furry overlord likes variety. Whatever food you give him, he’ll go mad for it when it is new and go off it after a few weeks. So we always give him a variety of foods. The exception is raw food. We now feed MrCat mostly raw food, and he loves it. He has never gone off it.

The raw food is Nutriment. It seems expensive, but MrCat needs less than pouches as it is far more concentrated. He needs 340g of conventional food (4 pouches at 85g each) a day, but only 150g of raw food. We give him 1-1.5 pouch every day 100g or so of raw.

Exactly. As my vet said the best/good food is the one your cat likes.

Have a look on Zoopla. Lots of different varieties of cat food. They are very reliable.

dementedpixie · 26/10/2026 18:24

Do you mean zooplus?

Pennyfan · 27/10/2026 20:39

Mine eats Harringtons. I get the poultry in gravy and she always tucks in. It’s better quality than the standard wet food but is very reasonably priced.

Pixiedust1234 · 27/10/2026 22:41

The Stray only licks the gravy off wet food so we can't even give her the jelly ones, despite her eating a full pouch of Whiskas kitten in jelly as a stray.

We have tried chunks, tried mushing it with forks, tried fillets, pate, mousse, shredded, and soups. We have tried (the big 5) supermarket own brand, Whiskas, all the Felix types, Butchers, Harrington, Untamed, Thrive, Binx, Lily's Kitchen etc etc etc.

She will only eat Purina biscuits and the gravy from Felix pouches, the remainder is thrown 😩. You have my sympathy. They are very beautiful though (and worth the angst) 😍

There is a viable business idea in selling a mixed box of different brands so we could all try them with our furry overlords before buying a full packet.
Mind you that would not stop the I know you have just bought a multipack but I have decided I do not like it anymore

I would change the dry food to a better quality such as Purizon on zooplus, try a few flavours in the 400g bags. My cat adores it

I do this so I don't worry too much about the quality of wet food.
My cat likes encore fish pouches (zooplus)
Morrisons pate small tins
Waitrose fish in gravy tins.
Also buy chicken breast slices for the cat

Often I have to squirt a bit of lic a lix on the wet to get him to eat it.
