Kitten feeding amount

We have rehomed a 6 month old kitten, the original owners had tried and failed to integrate her with their older cat. The kitten has had episodes of diarrhoea which was checked by a vet and who said all the stool samples were clear and recommended starting on pro purina gastrointestinal pouches. They said they were advised to feed 2 pouches a day. The kitten is 6 months and weighs 2.1kgs, has not been neutered yet although I have booked it with the vet.

Does this sound like enough food as she seems so hungry, she eats all her food then cries and paws at the box, the box says a 2kg cat needs 1 + 1/4 pouches in 24 hours. Their vet said 2 pouches and when I look it up online through AI it says 3 pouches in 24hours. I'm tempted to try and add some of the same brand dry food but I dont want to upset her tummy again as she is apparently very sensitive

I would try her on a dry gastrointestinal food as well. Slightly surprised at the amounts you've been told, cats are still growing at that age.

I only feed 2 pouches a day between my 2 adult cats, but they have dry food down 24/7. Dry has the added advantage that if the cat settles into being a grazer then you can leave it out all the time without it going nasty like wet can.

The Purina website says 2-2.75 pouches for a 6-month-old kitten. They need plenty of food while they are growing, including enough protein.

I assume this is the food?

If she is hungry I would feed her more if she wants it. A growing kitten is not likely to become overweight any time soon by eating a purely wet food diet of food that is not kitten food (kitten food is usually higher calorie with more protein.)

My kitten is 6 months old and he is free-fed wet food (we use KatKin.) He is a Maine Coon which are a bigger breed and take longer to mature. He doesn't over-eat (he is getting to be a bit fussy - typical cat behaviour!) but I certainly wouldn't deny him good-quality food at this age.
