Introducing dog and new kittens

We bring home a pair of rescue kittens next weekend and we have a 4 year old Labrador. He’s very easy going and well trained with minimal prey drive. The kittens will initially live in the the dining room until they are settled and we have a baby gate on the room (and a door obviously!). The kittens will have plenty of high up perches and escapes.

My plan so far is:

blankets which smell of dog with kittens and vice versa
time in each other’s rooms when they are empty (when the kittens are settled)
supervised viewing of each other through baby gate
Dog on lead with kittens able to move around freely

And then I get a bit stuck with progression. What am I missing? Am I overthinking or not doing enough?
I will of course pay the cat tax when they come home!

That was our plan until someone accidentally left the kitten’s door open and we found the dog curled up in there with her!
After that initial heart in mouth moment we continued to supervise them carefully.
A few months on they are great friends.
