Is it fine to brush a cat every day?

I have a 50% ragdoll 100% floof cat who loves being brushed. He head butts you every evening until you do. We have the pet tangle teezer brushes which seem gentle but still always get some hair off him.

Is it ok for a cat to be brushed everyday? Never had a cat that actually wanted to be brushed before.

He is very insistent that it happens. He even rooks over so you can brush his tummy. Just worried if it could cause a problem with his fur.

They need regular brushing. This is a good thing! Avoid Matting and bonding time with you

I brush our cat (who isn’t even long haired) every night. When he hears the dishwasher being stacked after dinner he comes for his brush, then he gets his Dreamies, then he goes out. Every single night. He rolls around on his back like a turtle purring his head off when I do his tummy!

Long-haired cats do need more frequent brushing than your normal moggy, otherwise they can get horribly matted and suffer from a lot of hairballs. Nature didn't give them a long coat, humans bred them like that, and they need human assistance to look after themselves.

If they love it and enjoy a daily groom, great. If they don't like it, they need to get used to it anyway, so little and often helps.

mine always comes and nags to be brushed after my bath. Got to the point he hears the bath running and gets in my bedroom ready.

I get nasty looks if I don’t do it and he’s even gone so far as to bite my toes to remind me.

It’s fine. Get a metal comb to get through the undercoat.

I have to brush my (short haired) cat whenever I brush my own hair. He hears me brushing my hair and comes galloping into the room and headbutts me until I brush the top of his head and his cheeks. His sister hates being brushed! Culprit pictured. OP your cat is extremely handsome!

My DM brushes her fluffy cat every day. He needs the help to keep his coat in good condition. My feisty shorthair meanwhile goes for me if I even get the brush out 😂

Go for it. My two (short-haired fortunately) will try to take your arm off if you attempt to brush them so it only happens rarely and then I get enough fluff off them to make a new cat.

One of mine loves being brushed and demands it, the other one has to be bribed with lick e lix and chased round the house!
This is the one who likes it, asleep on a box yesterday.

About the only thing Micia is sure she likes is being brushed- but only between her first and second breakfast, only in one place in the house and only by me
