Cat proof fences?

We are soon getting our first kitten. Plan is to keep little one in for the first few months. We do eventually want to let it out but our neighbours cat was run over - we live in a quiet cul de sac but it still managed to be hit and was very upsetting.

Has anyone used cat proof fencing? Do they actually work?

We have just done 1 side for now. Ndn has a huge alsation and before they moved in dcat loved their lawn ! He's made no attempt to try get to the fence now.

We had it done this year for our new rescue cat as our last cat was knocked over on our road. It cost a fortune (I got multiple quotes and almost all had months of wait for installation) but it was the best decision ever as she spends tons of time outside and definitely can’t get out. The only issue is keeping an eye when the front door is open. Tesco deliveries are probably the most challenging.

We had fencing from Safe Whiskers installed a couple of months ago and it seems to be doing the trick so far. Miles cheaper than others I looked at and very helpful customer service (I have no connection to them!)- I sent them some pictures of the garden to see if it was suitable and they gave some advice about fence height and potential weak points. We had someone we know fit it as we didn’t trust our diy skills, but he said it was quite straightforward. The fence does need to be high enough (8’) so we did have to ask a neighbour if we could raise the fencing on one side, she was lovely and agreed (and actually it’s better for privacy anyway). All in all, I’d recommend at the moment - one cat has investigated and then dropped back down. Apart from that they just enjoy playing in the garden.

I agree on the front door thing - that’s the biggest stress.
