Would getting a fourth be a terrible idea?

We recently adopted a new kitten to live alongside our two resident 4 year old cats. All are indoor and introductions went well and they all get on. The kittens been here about 5 weeks now. He is adorable, and we love him BUT he can be an absolute pain in the arse to the older two at times, just being a kitten and wanting to play when all they want to do is eat, sleep and repeat with a little play in between but not to his level! The rescue have lots of kittens and I’m wondering if it would be a good idea or a bad one to adopt another? We can afford it and have room. The older two are siblings so always had each other.

Sounds like a good idea to me! Not a cat owner but a cat and house sitter, I get the joy of other people's cats. 😂🥰

If yours are all happy but just kitten a bit kittenish, another kitten will surely add to the happiness?

That's interesting because our local rescue shelter finds that kittens are rehomed very quickly indeed. They even have a waiting list.

I think I would. I know @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats always adopts in pairs so has 4 cats at present. When we introduce a new cat or kitten we do have to be very aware of the impact on any existing cats in the house, and you're right in that the energy levels of the kitten are sky high at an age when the older pair have settled more.

I think it would be better for both the older cats and the kitten. I know most rescues usually adopt them in pairs, but as you have one at that age they may be pleased to find a suitable home for an odd single "spare" kitten.

@Allergictoironing Yes that’s a good point, our kitten was one of 3 and the other two were bonded so went together, leaving him alone. I will message and ask if there are any other singles, I have seen a few posts on there that they have had a few litters in recently.

Remember to put in the email why you're looking for a single, otherwise they may automatically dismiss your email.

Oh, and we seem to be missing the cat tax here?
