Uber for pets

I’m moving house soon and will have to get my very nervous cat to a house about 1.5 hours drive away. I’m a bit reluctant to book a proper taxi as she is a bugger to get in the carrier, so don’t want to book a definite time. I’m not restricted to a particular day, I’ll probably have a window of about a week to move her.

So I thought Uber would be easiest - check there were Ubers around available, get her in carrier, then actually order it. I’m moving across London so no shortage of Ubers.

My question is, has anyone had issues when the Uber turns up and they realise there is a cat? She is very vocal which doesn’t help. I understand you can choose Uber Pet when booking, but the driver may not realise they’ve even enabled that option, or that someone has specifically booked the Pet option.

I’m going with her in the Uber in case that’s not clear.

Might need to check reviews. My DH’s friend often books uber pet to travel back from the pub with his lab. Frequently they accept the job ( costs extra) then start to argue once they arrive.
Are there any other options? Pet taxi type these often exist to get pets to the vet. Someone local might have a good recommendation.

I moved from London to Manchester with my cat, we put her in a dedicated pet taxi which had a crate/catrier built in at the back. I’ve had terrible experiences with uber pet saying she has to go in the boot or not allowing me to put the carrier down on a seat! Don’t trust them at all x

Oh wow there is no way she can go in the boot. The only time I’ve had to transport her is when I got her from Battersea Cats Home. The taxi driver then just made me put the carrier down on the floor. I’ll have a look at pet taxis.

You have to book the Pet option on the app its a bit extra £ but at least they accept it then.
Make sure cat is ready in carrier as they charge you extra £ for waiting i think minutes.
No way i would put in the boot
My local cab I just book it tell them have cat in basket and will be on my lap no extra charge.
