Stompy neighbors, cat can't settle

I have a 6 year old rescue cat. He is indoor only, as the train line is at the end of my garden. I've had him for 4 years, and in that time my upstairs neighbours (mum and adult son) have always been pretty quiet. Last week they moved out, and a family moved in. They have three children, aged 6-9 years. They, and their parents, are very loud, running about, stomping. They get up at 5am, and the noise stops about 11pm.

I know they can't help it, and I think they might have taken up the carpet which isn't helping. The kids are probably still on holiday. It's driving me mad, but I can't do much.

However, my poor cat cannot settle. Every thump sends him running about in fright. I've tried playing with him more to tire him out, brushing him to make him relax, but he's still on edge and tearing round the flat all the time.

Has anyone got any ideas to help him relax?

And chat to the neighbours about the noise carrying.

White noise, feliway plug-ins and go and tell them to keep the noise down!

It’s only been a week, your cat will probably adjust. I have a cat who goes running and hiding at the slightest knock as she associates it with a stranger coming to the door. Next door had building work which I was dreading as obviously there was loads of banging, for months. She quickly adjusted and realised the bangs weren’t to do with my house.

Agree with Feliway though as well.
