Do wild/feral kittens do this to their mummy cat...

Pretend they havent been fed

Turn their nose up at whatever has been brought home from mum's hunt

Keep trying to sit on their mum/snuggle up even though its boiling hot

I cant work out where some of this behaviour comes from, I cant imagine this is normal wild cat behaviour and while I know domestication has changed some of their behaviours, we are a bit like their mums so Im confused why they do some of these things.

The constant wanting to lie on you as well doesnt make sense to me, why lie on top of me, it cant be for warmth purposes in this heat.

They snuggle up for comfort, not for heat - like human children might want to sit on mummy's knee, whatever the weather; or, indeed, human mum won't stop cuddling her baby just because the weather is hot.

Feral kittens likely would eat whatever mum brought back straight away because it would be a 'fresh kill' - cats are 'programmed' to eat wild food quickly, before it starts to decay or the smell of blood attracts other predators who might try to steal it.

None of those reactions will kick in with prepared food at home, and cats are notoriously fickle and fussy over what they'll eat. They don't seek daily variety as we do - they don't mind the same food day after day - so if you find something they like, stay with it, but don't stockpile it because they do sometimes go off a particular food.

Most cats will - eventually - eat any food when they are hungry enough but if your cat isn't eating over a period of days, you need to seek vet advice, and with kittens if they stop eating you need to seek that advice quickly as kittens can go downhill fast - there might be an underlying medical cause.
