I keep getting my neighbours cats come in the house and garden which is a bit annoying when there's like 6 of them plus other neighbours too but on the whole it doesn't bother me, I like cats and my cat doesn't seem too upset by it.
However, I've witnessed one of them spraying on my sheds and furniture in the garden and I've also been able to smell cat wee in one of the kids rooms and in the kitchen. I'm 99% sure it's not my cat because she's a girl and doesn't usually wee anywhere but her trays and outside. If she ever does there is a puddle and doesn't smell so we stand in it before we smell it.
I've put a flat cat on the kids room because my neighbours cats were definitely getting in through his open window, I've witnessed them and so has he. The kitchen however is a different matter, I could put another screen on the door for when it's open but then my cat can't get out when she wants to. I could keep the doors closed but I want the air. The only thing I could do is mesh the patio doors and keep them open and keep the back door closed, nobody can get in through the microchip cat flap. However I'm worried I'll accidentally forget to close the doors when I go out because I've been known to do that!
The only other 2 options are cat proofing the garden for thousands of pounds and getting a cat flap to go in the back gate (my husband will not be on board because they are all new fences and gate) or building a small catio on the back door and putting a microchip cat flap in that so my cat can go out but nobody else can come in. The garden might still be sprayed in but it soon comes off when it rains and generally doesn't smell and isn't in my food prep area!
None of them are spayed or neutered and are always getting pregnant so the collection keeps growing and for all I know 6 might turn into 8 and so on.
How can I make this stop without spending thousands of pounds!
