Pen Must have known her insurance was up for renewal as she’s causing trouble again! She was downstairs this morning and started mowing loudly. She couldn’t walk up the stairs properly and was panting and mouth breathing. But then could walk normally. Took her straight to the vet who noticed some nystagmus when she held her. (Not had it before) But then she was behaving completely normally. Examination was normal and she’s completely her usual self. Though the vet thought she was more jumpy than normal, which she was a bit. She’s done some bloods and waiting for results. Madam is completely fine now! If it happens again the vet will refer to neurology. Fingers crossed it was a one off.

Thinking of you and Pen - hope all is ok

Elieza · 10/09/2026 08:14

hope Pen is ok. sounds like the mini stroke my mum had and then was fine. shes now on blood thinners. Im not sure re cat treatment but hope they can help her.

when you renew with the same insurer i didnt think there was a waiting period so you might be ok?

She had some midazolam which didn’t do much. The vet thought the symptoms were classical for a brain tumour. The only fair thing was to PTS. She went very quickly and peacefully. I’m absolutely heartbroken

I'm so sorry to read that she has had further episodes.

Oh I am so sorry for your news - RIP beautiful Pen

I’m so sorry. RIP Penelope, run free at the Rainbow Bridge

Oh darling that's so sad! She was a lovely girl with a great personality. Gone to join Cheddar and the others now.

Will you be looking again soon, or taking a while to think about it? Every other time it seems that a cat has appeared ready to fill that Persian shaped hole in the house...

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 10/09/2026 09:18

@Allergictoironing I will be looking again. I love Persians. I know they are trouble but that are fabulous and fit in with my lifestyle. The rescue Pen came from has closed but they did rescue one recently who is rather beautiful. But we’ll see. Not sure if the other rescue would allow me to adopt from
them again after Paddington’s and Dotty. But the cat distribution system will find the right one.

@InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing so sorry. You were wonderful to her and she obviously loved you

SilverMau · 10/09/2026 09:22

Please accept my apologies, your update at 8.48 wasn't showing for me when I posted my earlier reply.

I have read many of your posts about Pen, and she was clearly a delightful cat that you loved very much. I'm so sorry for your loss.

GoodGirlFaith · 10/09/2026 09:24

Oh she's a Persian! I had one for a very short time at the end of her life. She had been a breeding queen :(

I have always had cats but was blown away at how docile and affectionate Persians are.

I am glad Pen is well!

InQuiresandplaceswheretheysing · 10/09/2026 10:19

I had two ex breeding queens, and Penelope was supposed to have been used for breeding but she refused point blank to do her duty. So the breeder gave her to a rescue.
