Cat won’t go in back garden/use catflap

Hi I wondered if anyone can help me figure out how to sort this issue out with my 8 yr old boy

We had been living very peacefully until around a year ago when a new cat moved in to the house that backs onto our garden.

It it very confident and is on our garden fairly often despite us trying to deter it away(We even have a dog who barks at it but it’s not scared!)

My boy will now not use his cat flap or the back garden at all. He meows to be let in/out the front door at all times. We’ve tried not letting him out and he ended up doing his business indoors.

He's meowing at all hours waking us up and probably the neighbours too! I’m thinking we will have to use a litter tray and keep him indoors?! Would feel terrible as he loves being outside.

Any ideas?

Could be temporary we had this with a cat I carried him into the. Garden and walked around with him then I sat on a chair with him then I moved away eventually I left him in the garden. He still doesn’t go the whole length of the garden unless I am there I think. Think it was a fox or he could be lazy.
