House feels wrong without him

We made the difficult decision to have our 14 year old cat put to sleep on Monday. He had stopped eating, and as withdrawn and unsteady. I feel so sad, he was such a loving people cat - loved a lap and just followed you round the house. Got back today after being away and it feels so empty. I feel a bit pole-axed at how sad I am.

the silence is absolutely deafening. It’s the worst. So sorry.

Sorry for your loss, it does feel very strange.

Having also put my very affectionate 14 year old cat to sleep on Monday in similar circumstances I really empathise. It's so odd not to have a cat around.

Oh my dear - I feel your pain so closely. I lost my dear cat a year ago and I walked in the house last week and would swear I saw my darling boy lying on my bed. I still have his ashes with me. It will get easier but you will never forget xx

My deepest sympathy. It’s a gut-wrench. I wish you courage and healing 💔

Sorry for your loss.

I know how you feel as we had our old boy PTS in May.
It does get easier.
We made a collage of 4 photos of him and it's on our bedroom wall. I speak to him whenever I walk past and he's always there watching over us.

Thanks for your kind words. I thought I’d add a photo of “his floopiness” at high floop level!

Hi op, we had one of ours put to sleep Tuesday and I too feel empty. I feel guilt for doing anything as it’s like she’ll never know we’ve done it. Sounds mad I know. I think it’ll just take time to adjust. I’m trying to keep busy and not spend too much time just sat at home as that’s when I find I think most. Be kind to yourself, it’s such a sad time isn’t it

It's hard and I feel your pain. It's fascinating how much their presence is missed when they're gone. Expecting to see/hear them when you walk into a room.

It's a beautiful photo of him, a handsome chap.

I'm sorry, nothing hurts like losing a kitty.
