4 year old Maincoon cat Large Cell Lynphoma 💔

Hi .. my maincoon cat has been diagnosed with large cell lymphoma B .. 5 weeks ago as we found two lumps .. official diagnosis was Monday for the b cell … the overall diagnosis was confirmed Monday before that .. 💔 we are waiting for the chemo treatment and scans .. she is only 4 years old … please can anyone give me any information of how long this can go on before my girl has had enough with this particular grading .. we will not let her suffer … we are going to see how she responds to the chemo .. Thank you .. this has been a huge shock and we are devastated 💔.. I need to know what to expect Thank you 💔

So sorry to read this, what a shock. My Siamese was diagnosed at 18 months and went straight into chemo, he had 3 intensive treatments on 3 successive days, then weekly for 6 weeks, then 3 weekly for 6 months. The tumours went after the first 3 treatments. He was only in hospital for those first 3 days, after that it was just like a normal appointment with a quick jab. No side effects at all.

At no point did he suffer, he was carrying on life as normal, including hunting and exploring. The chemo is different to what humans have and of course he also didn’t have the psychological impact of knowing he was ill.

He remained clear for 9.5 years until he was pts 2 weeks ago for an unrelated issue 💔

Discuss your worries with the consultant, our consultant was very firm that our boy had to be able carry on his normal life, otherwise what was the point.

There was one snag - the fur where he’d been shaved for the ultrasound etc didn’t grow back until the chemo finished, so we got him a jumper!

this is large cell lymphoma B.. very aggressive sadly .. could go past 12 months with chemo .. we are insured and going on this path 🙏 just waiting for vets hearsay and go ahead .. thank you so much for your reply .. I am so happy you had all those years extra with him 🥹❤️

We were told best case 12 months with chemo for our cat. We opted not to do the treatment as she would have found it incredibly distressing being hauled back and forth, and we said goodbye to her a week after diagnosis. (If it had been treat to cure we would have done chemo.)

we are playing it by ear atm.. we will not put her through it if she is distressed t any time 😔.. Maisie is ticking over almost normally , it’s just the tiredness that grabs her .. we anticipated at least another 10 years with her at most 💔.. we are waiting for a scan and vet to get the info from oncologist .. I insisted we would not travel a 50 mile trip to Basildon or London and they kindly offfered to get info from oncology specialists .. and go from there which has taken the edge off.. it’s a stones through from here in town 🙏.. but .. it’s a precarious situation atm .. Thank you for your kind words .. we won’t let her suffer or go through anything that does not feel right for her ❤️ best wishes ..

My 10 year old cat Baxter was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma, he had a 1cm tumour in his stomach and we were told the odds were:
• chemo had a 40% chance of remission
• average remission time was 3-9 months

We decided to give the chemo a chance, as aside from chronic vomiting he was fine in himself. Baxter was in remission for 2 years, we had 6 month check up scans and monthly chemo.
despite losing hair and weight halfway through, he was always in good spirits, playing, hunting and enjoying his life, so, for us it was worth it.
We eventually had to put him down as he developed a secondary type of cancer called a sarcoma, which wasn’t responsive to chemo.
I’m sure whatever outcome you chose for your girl will be one with her best interests at heart, ask the vets all the questions you have, as many times as you need x

We have the complication of Maisie having 2 outside lumps .. one near her arm pit and one near groin 😔they seemed to appear from nowhere .. she is in to tomorrow for scan and bloods and then chemo next week .. hubby is on a call at work and texted me .. I can’t get all the details .. I don’t know which day chemo .. I know I feel sick with anxiety … she’s had cuddles this morning .. and still loves them .. she’s ok with food and toileting . Odd ones are loose stools .. but the tiredness is real for her ..
