Siamese or not?!

Hello!

I have always had rescue moggies before. We have been fortunate enough to have lovely friendly ones!!

However, my family have traditionally had Siamese (not immediate) and Im thinking maybe I’ll follow my former family members but looking online it says they shouldn’t go outside. I wouldn’t like an indoor cat - just watching mine sunbathing and climbing the tree for a good scratch is great. What’s your view? Also, would you get two. Sadly my relatives are long gone.

Also any other recommended breeds alongside Siamese. I liked the more traditional Siamese with the fuller face, and anyone have any recommendations for breeders.

I also don’t know if I’d feel guilty getting a kitten when so many cats need homes.

My daughters boyfriends family have a siamese, and he's always up to something, usually involving sheds, roofs and vets. He's regularly awol and nowhere will insure him anymore. He's definitely used his 9 lives and quite a few more.
That said he's (somehow) made it to a ripe old age, and is an absolutely adorable boy, I think DD goes there to see the cat as much as the boyfriend.

I didn’t get a Siamese even though it would be my preference because of the noise, and I have a black moggie that will not shut up !! Literally walks around the house talking to himself and then finds you and goes even louder! So you never know what you’re in for 🤣

Stick with moggies.
I've a moggie who I think has Siamese in him as he's got that roman nose and is very skinny. He's a right moody little bugger though and has shat and pished in some unforgivable places! My others were always more 'european' looking and better behaved.

@Chickenandgritz I second the recommendation for a Mau. They are not as well known a breed as Siamese but share a lot of the traits - chatty (very!) social dog cats who bond very strongly to their humans. They share the fine boned long legged elegance of Siamese but are pure muscle. My boy looks like an Egyptian god and is the best !

My old cat was half Siamese (his mum was half snowshoe and half chocolate point), an “accident” with her boyfriend’s black cat meant the mum gave birth to 3 kittens. Mine had long legs, a moon sort of shape curving back, black and white underneath and on paws and amber round eyes and teeth like fangs, plus the Siamese pointed slanted jaw line and roman nose. According to his owners he was the most Siamese like out of the kittens. He got scared of things very easily, his owners had a Rottweiler that he encountered in his home and he was terrified of dogs after that. He also roamed the streets and gardens but never approached strange humans. Very curious and inquisitive.

I definitely recommend getting a Siamese. They are so sociable, the dogs of the cat world. Very opinionated and curious but extremely loving.

My mums Siamese goes outside, they are very intelligent so I don’t see why they can’t. It’s always the expensive pedigree cats that apparently can’t go outside, but they enjoy it as much as a moggy. My neighbours beautiful British. Short Hair goes outside.

He sounds like my wee fella. He was like a little dog when he was younger. He played fetch until he was about three!
He's white with black tail and a couple random spots on his sides and a little wiggly black bit on top that makes him vaguely resemble graham taylor 😆

I’d love a Siamese. Currently have a ragdoll who talks incessantly. If you speak to him, he answers!

Not sure about intelligent but mine definitely knew how to win people over, the nurses at Noel Fitzpatrick’s practice when he was very ill apparently adored him. He liked women a lot. Would often come and earwig on me and female friends conversations.
