Birthday present for your cat

Finlay is 3 tomorrow and I have no idea what to buy him or even if he will be home to celebrate!
Do you remember or even know your cats birthday? I always put them on the calendar
Previous cats would have appreciated a tin of tuna or some cream or chicken but Finlay does not enjoy people food and has so many toys that he never plays with whilst he is on his roaming adventures

Happy birthday Finlay! Louie’s birthday is 16 January - which means Thursday next week is his “half birthday”. (We do half birthdays in this house because mine is in February and that is the worst month for a birthday!) Both are on the kitchen calendar. This year he got a new dish and a catnip mouse, to add to his collection of other catnip mouses.

Our previous girl we knew her birthday was January, but not the date, so I chose the 13th for her. Every year I would do an Instagram post with eg ten of my favourite photos for her turning ten (which was her last birthday 😭). She had - and now Louie does - quite a lot of fans on Instagram.

Toasty Boy Cat has 2 birthdays. His actual birthday is later this month and his adoption birthday is in November. He likes tuna for his birthday teas.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/07/2026 23:32

@MrsMoastyToasty we also celebrate “gotcha day”. What can I say, we just really like cake here.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses @MrsMoastyToasty with previous cats who we’ve not known actual birthdate we’ve remembered date they came home to us
For both Finn and Reuben we knew actual birth date so stuck to that x

Well a tin of tuna would have been my suggestion but if he’s not impressed by that then a cuddle and extra scritches would suffice!

A few extra Dreamies and a head massage, although this year for her half birthday (last week) I gave her a banana cat nip toy that she has ignored. 🤨

I have birthday parties for my two cats, I just kind of guess when their birthdays are. They get a few suitably wrapped gifts and a salmon tea! I do it as much for the kids as the cats 😂

Finlay looks like he’d enjoy a fluffy blanket to sleep on and a new porcelain tea plate for his tuna!

I know Penelope’s birthday, but she doesn’t get anything. Solely because she doesn’t use beds, play with many toys or like treats. Solely she’s impossible to buy for. 🤣🤣

Donate the banana to the Bengal cat that lived opposite York Minster. Since he stole Penelope’s 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Valerian pillows always go down a treat.

Marvin is March 28th - so he's an Aries which fits him perfectly. We buy him toys of various descriptions but nothing he's really loved so far. This year he has had a Catio built for him do that's Christmas and next year's birthday present sorted !

Puppylucky · 15/07/2026 20:20

This is Marvin living his best life in his Catio - we could have had a week on the Med for what it cost but instead we get to watch a little cat having fun - I suppose it's worthwhile! I have just realised that I can't upload the video so you will have to take my word for it that all hell broke loose 5 seconds later!

Poor cat stuck in a cat prison. 😢

PiggieWig · 15/07/2026 20:23

I’ve had a brutal week and Ozzy’s 10th birthday yesterday got overlooked, but I’ve made it up to him tonight with some roast chicken for his tea.
He’s a happy boy.
He got a new scratching post for Christmas, a mushroom one, which he likes.

Seriously?

Happy cat loving life in a Catio! He can climb and explore and hang out - everything apart from murder small wildlife

Overtheatlantic · 15/07/2026 21:36

Best of both worlds!

DCat hates everyone, does not 'do' toys, and normally ignores anything with catnip.

Weirdly, her favourite things to play with are Lillets, or Jakemans cough sweets (maybe it's the plastic - and she is always supervised).

However, someone on one of these threads recommended the 'Ertzinla' catnip toys sold through Amazon - especially the banana shaped one. DCat is VERY attached to these, and she's very possessive. I've bought another (shaped like a spider) and she is very happy.
