Cat ate a chicken bone and I’m worried

My cat just ate a chicken bone from my plate when my back was turned. I read that it can be dangerous because the bone can splinter and damage the gut, so I have called the emergency vet and they say just to monitor over the next couple of days. She seems perfectly happy right now but I’m really worried and thinking the worst. Could do with some good news stories.

I had a cat growing up that was obsessed with chicken bones. My parents tried multiple locks on the trash cans. She broke all of them. She ate so many chicken bones over the years and never had a single health problem.

That cat lived to 24. we could not believe how long she just kept going. She lived so long that we started to wonder if somehow she got swapped with another cat at some point, but her quirks never changed so that explanation didn’t really make sense

Thank you. That’s really reassuring. She seems her normal chipper self this morning so fingers crossed she’ll be fine.

My compulsive eater cat (she was a rescue who'd been abandoned to starve) did this once and was absolutely fine.

I'd foolishly given it to her, thinking she'd just gnaw off the remaining meat, and then panicked on hearing the crunch of bone!

There was almost nothing she wouldn't eat- she once had a really good go at the husk of a corn-on-the-cob. I did have to conclude her self-preservation skills were sub-optimal, and learn to keep food away from her...

Thank you. Shes currently the picture of health jumping around and no signs of pain. Just need to see something come through the other end and we’ll be out of the woods.
