Well, what do I do now?

My cats have both got Pet tracer collars these are £79 each and I pay a monthly subscription of £25 for both collars. I’m not impressed at all, I’ve had them six months and half the time they don’t work I thought I’ll leave it till the contract is up in another six months time then cancel. (I signed up for a year)

now one of the silly cats has come home without a collar, it’s fine I thought as I looked on the app and it showed where the collar is, in a neighbours garden. I knocked on the neighbours house and explained my cat had lost its collar in her garden and could she possibly have a look and get it for me whenever she can.

well this neighbour 6doors up from me has said no, no explanation given which I suppose is very annoying but she doesn’t need to do me a favour but now I’m paying £25 a month for a subscription and I’m down £79 with the collar and I don’t know what to do?? Anybody any ideas? I don’t have the money for a new collar and as I don’t want to renew the subscription it seems pointless. My friend said to scale her fence when she’s out 😂 (obviously she was joking)

Gosh that's a lot of money on a cat collar! Personally I wouldn't bother getting it back given it doesn't actually work anyway.

Did you actually explain all this to your neighbour ? They probably assume it's a £2 one and now think you're completely dotty for coming knocking about a collar.

Oh wow that's a nightmare! We also have a pet tracer collar which is totally redundant but in our case it's because Marvin is still under house arrest and never goes further than the back door. Interesting to hear they don't work well though -as you say they aren't cheap. I agree with the suggestion above that you explain to the neighbour how pricey the collar is - and how quickly/ easily you will be able to find it and get out of their hair!

That's expensive! I use tractive, cheaper by far. Cut your losses and change over.
About £40 for a device (they do new style collars too) and £5 a month (if you pay upfront which I do for 2 cats).

Thank you for all your reply’s! Think I’m gonna have to cut my losses though it pains me very much! The neighbour was so unfriendly I’m scared to go back she seemed the type to accuse me of harassment and get the police involve! I like to think I’m a kind neighbour but I suppose we are all different. Think I’m going to get an apple air tag and collar as it’s less expensive!
