Advice for visiting cat with IBS, we have carpet

We will soon be looking after our elder child's indooor cat for a minimum of 6 weeks, to help shorten their house-moving chain.

He has been here a few times, knows us and roams a bit

I am a novice with cats, think we have most covered, but the cat has IBS which is triggered by stress. His current home and new one have uncarpeted floors, but we have carpet.

I'm a bit creaky, my knees don't like kneeling, so I was wondering whether to get several cheap washable mats, so if he does not reach the litter trays, I can easily pick the mat up, dispose of the faeces, wash.

Any advice welcome, thank you!

Would disposable puppy pads be any good?? Saves washing smelly rugs. I have 3 cats and the area round the cat box is covered just in case of any misfire

Thank you, I hadn't thought of those!

@HundredAcreOwl good luck x another option is just keeping him in one room or downstairs in case of accidents

He'll be mostly in only a couple of rooms, he is gradually exploring. He loves the only one of our bookshelves which is half-filled! And the windowsill...

Dr Beckmann pet stain remover is also very good. In case of accidents. It’s got a brush on it.

Maybe look for some cheap or free rugs on Facebook or freecycle?
