Unexplained weight loss

I’m after a little advice please. My rescue cat is approx a mere 2 years old and has been losing weight recently. She seems fine in herself, is eating and drinking. She does spend time outdoors and is a bit of a hunter too!

She eats Royal Canin biscuits (Fit) and LOVES her dreamies treats too.

I will make an appointment at the vet to get her checked over but wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom or experienced anything similar.

I try and worm & treat her for fleas monthly. She toilets outside so I’ve not witnessed what her poop looks like currently.

How fast and how much weight? If she's outside more and hunting more in the warmer weather she might simply have been burning more calories over the last few months. Good to have a vet check though.

When you say drinking OK, is that the normal amount or more than she used to?

She's gorgeous BTW!

It’s so difficult to judge because she has always been on the leaner side but she’s definitely noticeably lost some weight.

She is drinking regularly and I know an increase in drinking can be an indicator of diabetes. Again, it’s difficult to say because she has always been a pretty good drinker, also factoring in the hot weather we had last week!

I’ve made an appointment for Thursday to get her checked over at the vets. Hopefully it’s nothing sinister and maybe she just needs a higher calorie diet.

I asked about the drinking because that coupled with weight loss are the first signs of CKD. But as Jellyofftheplate said, it could just be the warmer weather & her being out all night.
