Cat urine low concentration + protein

dcat is around 12. Was a stray so age was estimated when I got her, when she was approx 1. She had a mature cat check up a few days ago, vets weren’t able to get a blood sample as she was so nervous. But we gave a wee sample.
Vets didn’t call back for several days so I thought we were in the clear but had a call today and her wee was so under concentrated it was off the chart. There was also protein present. Dcat is going back in on Wednesday for a blood test with an oral sedation beforehand. I am so worried.
She drinks and wees a regular amount, is a healthy weight (actually slightly overweight).
I’ve googled and it suggests probably early stage kidney disease 😭 anyone got any experience with this, could the results be anything else?

My 18 year cat was diagnosed with stage 2 KD a few months ago. It is managed by a low protein diet which has not gone down well with cat!
