Cat fur - WHERE is it all coming from?!

I have two short haired tortie moggies. I brush them every day, and have been using a furminator. Yesterday I took a whole additional cat off one cat but my sofas are still covered in cat hair and I’m combing more fur off her today. She doesn’t look noticeably bald - her coat is gorgeous and shiny. Does this mean she’s shedding her undercoat in anticipation of a hot summer??

Mine are definitely in winter coat shed mode at the moment - the vacuum cleaner i think will give up the ghost before the spring is over from all the fur!

My upstairs hall carpet is now a fetching shade of tabby and white (i.e. Tobias coloured). Stroking Girlcat invokes clouds and clouds of silvery undercoat, and there are handfuls of balled up floof in the bin removed from the grooming tool..

Both short coated moggies.

If I comb CatOfHate, the shedding gets worse. I think it grows back faster.

Leaving him alone seems to result in the least fur on everything.
