What could this be on my cat’s neck?

Will obviously ring vets and get an appointment as soon as possible , but I was wondering if anyone has had this before with their cat, or knows what it could be. At the moment, I’m thinking the worst.

He is really fluffy and quite grumpy, which is why I haven’t noticed it sooner.

Until the picture gets approved, it’s basically a lump (like a cyst/abscess/spot) with a fairly big black , solid top.

Engorged tick?

Seawolves · 26/04/2026 19:20

A tick?

Dodie66 · 26/04/2026 19:20

Looks like. Tic to me too

Favouritefruits · 26/04/2026 19:21

Definitely a tick, no need for a vet visit just buy a tick remover from Amazon

Morepositivemum · 26/04/2026 19:23

I think even a tweezers would remove that but you tube how to do it first as I think I remember you don’t want to leave any part in

CurlewKate · 26/04/2026 19:28

Looks like a tick.

CurlewKate · 26/04/2026 19:29

Don’t use tweezers unless you know what you’re doing. Buy a tick remover from Amazon and follow the instructions.

EwwPeople · 26/04/2026 19:30

It’s not a tick. Hopefully a clearer picture.

Well,I think that is der]finitely an engorged tick. Look at this pic on the rabbits nose. I’ve had them on our cats too.

What leads you to conclude it’s not a tick, op? I mean, obviously we can’t be sure from a photo, but it certainly looks like one, and I’ve had to remove many from my cat.

Oh that poor little bunny 😢

musicalfrog · 26/04/2026 21:02

It looks flatter than a tick.

It might be some kind of mole but I would contact your vet if it's just appeared recently.

On the plus side, they look engorged enough to be about to drop off.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 26/04/2026 21:57

Could be a blackhead. If you tap it does it feel solid, like a carapace, or slightly soft?
