Energy shift in middle aged cat?

My girl will be 7 years old in October. Up until about a month ago she would have breakfast between 6-7am & then be straight out exploring, now she has breakfast & then shows no interest in going outside or nods off for at least an hour afterwards. Still likes to be outside a fair bit especially in the evening. Appetites not changed & no issues at vet check 6 wks ago.

FWIW shes my 6th cat but I can't remember seeing such an obvious (what I assime it to be) shift in energy levels with my other cats approaching their mid life

I think what I'm asking is anybody else's cat the same?

normal! My eldest cat is 14 and she stopped going outside at the age of nine, she sleeps all day pretty much now unless she wants treats. Grin

In human years your cat is only 44, I wouldn't expect a sudden slowing down at that age.

I've had a lot of cats and find they slow down gradually over the years, rather than suddenly. The only time their behaviour changes suddenly is if they injured/ill, or if the outside circumstances change to make them nervous (e.g. new neighbouring cat or dog around). And this time of year is the time they start going out more, rather than less. But she's been seen by the vet, so you've done what you can to check her over. It may just end up as a cat mystery!

Seven is still really young - I would get her checked over by a vet.
