I have been away with DD for two weeks and cat has apparently been spending his days on the stool in the kitchen.
Back today and he's sitting on the sofa right next to my ear purring (but also on top of the radiator, priorities!)

Has the radiator been on while you were away and he was in the kitchen? If yes, you are definitely the one he loves.
Otherwise you may have to face some unpleasant reality.

My cat was in the cattery last week. She’s been super affectionate since she got back!

The radiator has been on as DH sits on the sofa in the evenings, and there is no heating in the kitchen!
I feel confirmed as the cat's favourite slave.
