kittens spayed today

Had our four month old sibling kittens spayed this morning. Brother is recovering well - after some licking of the area concerned, he's already starting to get back to his normal self (was just a sedation and local for him).

Sister is a lot less happy - wants to hang out near us but is following Brother a bit, but growling if he comes too near, and doesn't want us to pet her.

I guess this is pretty normal and within normal parameters? (Our last kittens were romping around the house together within hours, but had spent longer recovering at the vet's...) We're just staying close by and observing for now, trying to create an atmosphere of calm normality (for us as well as them!)...

Great tax 👌

They must wear their collars - it won't take much licking at all for the wounds to become inflamed and infected.

The female op is a much bigger deal than the male on, so it's not a surprise she's feeling crap. She'll take longer to recover (but will probably be feeling much better tomorrow) and need more pain relief. After a hysterectomy humans need weeks off work...

I know, the wee soul... 😍 The last kittens we had were bouncing off the walls after theirs, but we'd had them a bit longer - they'd also been recovering at the vet's for a few hours - these were in and out pretty quickly...

Penny is booked for her spay in a few weeks, poor lamb.
I hope your pair recover swiftly ❤️💙

Pretty little Penny! 😻

Well Brother was just bonkers today - kept running between us for cuddles, bringing us balls to throw for him like a dog, trying to bother Sister, and flinging himself about despite our best attempts to calm him down... at last we put him in the next room alone - watching him through the glass - and he cooled down, and Sister perked up and came for cuddles and a quiet sit with us and seemed a lot happier by bedtime.

So we decided they'll sleep apart tonight (though can see each other through the door, because despite it all, they are bonded) - of course will keep a ear out for them, but think they were just too reactive off us and each other and everyone needs to cool their boots a bit.

Blimey, though, cats... 🙄😍
