Recommendations for ‘diet’ cat food, please

My 9 year old cat is a bit of a chunk and possibly has a touch of mild arthritis going on, and the vet has advised we try weight-loss / metabolic or even diabetic food. Currently only eats dry food.

Does anyone have a recommendations for dry food that won’t break the bank?

watching with interest as I have 12 year old brother and sister and she is definitely a chunk and needs to lose weight. Shes tiny in stature so it shows more whilst her brother is much taller and hides it better.
Ive been told by the vets to cut their food down as extra weight can lead to chest infections in older cats.

You don't need to use a diet food, you can use normal food but less of it (my vet said to give the amount recommended for the cat's ideal weight) and use puzzle feeders to make him work for his food.

Ah but then we’ll have pesting and yowling for top ups. Vet said you can give the same amount of diet food, it just has fewer calories.

Both DSis and I have had good results with Royal Canin Lightweight.

That's why you switch to a puzzle feeder, makes them eat more slowly and burn calories in the process!

We have Hills metabolic. Cat is losing weight and seems happy with it
