Neighbour has new cat -- how to introduce without violence?

We have a fairly calm indoor/outdoor cat but he has unfortunately been known to tussle with a few of the neighbourhood cats. We keep him in at night and generally it's fine, but we know his predilection about protecting his territory!

Our next door neighbors (terraced houses) got a new cat, which is lovely, but it terrifies us. Our cat really thinks of their front garden as his own so I worry it will amount to violence when he sees this new cat there. The cat isn't being let out yet, and is younger (currently a kitten). I'm wondering if there's any way to introduce this easily without warfare.

Any thoughts or ideas? Many thanks!

Honestly, just let them get on with it.

I agree with that. If you can, make sure the new cat has somewhere to run to if it needs to escape, but once they're out there, they'll figure it out for themselves.

It's good of you to think of it though, and to keep him in at night... 😻
