Is this normal for cats as it’s really bugging me and my old cat wasn’t like this. So basically I can’t leave any food at all on my kitchen side as they will rip it open and eat it even though they have food and always have access to dry food. (Wet food on separate occasions) they rip open, cereal, packets of noodles, crisps etc nothing can be left out. I’ve not had cats that have done this before

My cat would do this. It's the luck of the cat draw I guess. I came down to a load of smashed eggs the other morning. She'd dragged the box from behind jars on a shelf and smashed them all. I can't leave anything out at all. 😬

It’s getting ready annoying as I have a small kitchen so often I can’t fit everything in the cupboards so have left things out of the side for it to be ripped to pieces. Never known cats to do this and I’ve had a few!

Our boy loves human food but he's fussy - he's a meat kind of guy and will stick his head in a pot of something like chilli or spag bol on the hob, and if you leave something like a chicken resting on the side after coming out of the oven then he considers it fair game. Sausages and sausage rolls are his absolute favourite. We also have to keep Dreamies and the like in a sealed Tupperware as he is known to claw open the pack, wolf the whole lot, then throw up.

He and our previous cat both loved scrambled eggs and would eat them off your plate if you let them.

@RosesAreRedVioletsAreBluee are you my daughter?? Her cat who is now 5 can get into everything. They have to hide food away and she broke into a box of oats. They stored things on top of very high cupboards and she managed after 5 years to get up there. The other 2 cats don't bother.

Yeh one of my cats is awful for doing this! Sometimes she doesn’t even eat the food just rips it apart and pushes it on to the floor!

Oh yes my new cats are like this. I need to keep dreamies in a tupperware clip tub but they even managed to get into that a few times. Any packet left out is ripped open and we've had to be really careful with chocolate and cake bars as they even eat them. I had to buy a storage box for the kids xmas chocolate so the cats couldn't get in it!
