Worried about my boy

My cat is almost 1.5 years old, he’s a free spirit and goes outside via the chipped cat flap as he pleases. As the weather has been rubbish today he hasn’t been outside since coming in last night (approx 9pm). Since then he has not been to the toilet once, no peeing or pooing. He has an automated litter tray which counts the amount of time he goes, he’s not been in there at all. It’s been 24 hours, he has a water fountain and I brought some cat milk to encourage him to drink but he isn’t interested. His appetite is normal, he’s eating well and acting completely normal.

Should I contact the vet if he hasn’t peed by the time I get up in the morning?

I would probably pop him along, but I bet he wees overnight. My cat went over 36 hours when she was stressed. The ground is very cold so. Any blame him for not wanting to poo in the cold

Our last cat could easily go 24 hours in bad weather as she flat out refused to use the litter tray, but also hated the cold/wet - we used to have to dig her a “toilet” and carry her out in the snow when it was clear she might burst. We now have a little boy cat and he loves the litter tray, even though he does go out he comes in to use it. On average he will poo once a day, wee twice, but sometimes more/less in a 24 hour period.

Personally I’d wait and see before rushing to the vet, especially if he regularly toilets outside as you won’t have a true picture of his “normal”. I also think he will use the tray during the night.
